Educational Enrichment in West Virginia
We need your help to provide an exciting and educational summer experience for children of southern West Virginia ! Please join individuals, foundations, and businesses in providing financial support for Learning Day Camp at the Appalachian South Folklife Center (ASFC)! OUR MISSION is to foster a love of learning in an enriching, stress-free, natural environment! Learning Day Camp has provided opportunities and learning fun for hundreds of children in the hills of southern West Virginia for more than 35 years.
• Children attend camp free or on a sliding scale
• We aim to extend inclusivity to all children and embrace underserved families
• We provide healthy lunches and snacks daily
• Camp provides enlightening instruction on Appalachian culture, environmental science, multicultural education, and literary enrichment by accredited teachers.
• Academics are blended with American Sign Language, yoga, art, music, dance, play and field trips
• We are a nonprofit that is completely funded by grants and donations
The LDC experience supplies each child with art materials, journals, books, tee-shirts, reusable water bottles, science equipment, global studies materials, and more!
Financial support will go towards scholarships that ensure we can maintain an open door policy to any child despite income. Looking back, we watched so many success stories as this community of young people and their multigenerational families have enjoyed the benefits of LDC. Our intention is to share positive concepts in all the we do. Looking ahead we are grateful to be involved with the youth of our community in this way. We are grateful for any donation that is provided towards this endeavor.
