HELP RESCUE OVER 800 DOGS FACING DEATH IN PUERTO RICO — Where the average kill rate is currently 99%



On average, the kill rate of animals in Puerto Rico is 99 percent. 

With a population of over 500,000 dogs that's continuing to grow, Big Dog Ranch Rescue  (BDRR) of Florida, the largest cage-free, no-kill shelter in the United States, is stepping in to save the day, the future, and the lives of these animals.

BDRR recently visited Santuario Canita in Puerto Rico, the largest sanctuary on island, which is captured in the film above. 

Carmen Cintron gave up her livelihood to start Santuario Canita as a safe haven for animals on the island, yet because of the pandemic, climate changes causing record-breaking hurricanes, and everyone still recovering from previous Hurricane Maria, her sanctuary is inundated with over 800 dogs. As she is exceeding capacity, many other dogs are left abandoned in the streets, living in the woods, hit by cars, and abused. 

BDRR is currently fundraising to charter as many cargo planes as it takes to get these dogs stateside to receiving rescues across the East Coast. 

Fortunately, due to your generosity, we were able to charter our first flight of 125 dogs to safety on Friday, October 9.

With $50,000 we can fund two more rescue flights.

That's saving at least 250 more dogs. 

Once the sanctuary numbers have been decreased and they can properly care for their animal population, any additional funds will be used to send a spay neuter van for a veterinary-assisted mass sterilization.

As many of you already know, our dear friend, Carl Pennauchi, has passed away at the very young age of 34. He will be remembered for many things; being a great son, brother, partner and friend. He had one of the kindest souls a person can possess.

To that end, for those of you who do not know, Carl loved animals as much as he loved people. He was an owner of six adopted dogs whose lives were saved because of him and his girlfriend, Stefanie. He was not just an owner of dogs, he and Stefanie also pursued their passion for animals by donating their time to help animals in need. One of the rescue facilities where they worked was called the Big Dog Ranch Rescue (14444 Okeechobee Blvd, Loxahatchee, FL 33470). He rescued a countless number of dogs; this was a very important life mission to him.

In remembrance of Carl, and his life’s passion, we are attempting to meet a minimum of a $10,000 goal, to be donated to Big Dog Ranch, on his behalf. His close friends and family cannot meet this goal alone. We are asking for your help to keep this cause, that was so near and dear to Carl’s heart, alive. Every dollar counts, so we encourage you to pass this on to as many friends and family as you can.
