Billie Jean is just the sweetest little munch, thanks to everyone that donated it is confirmed she needs surgery to correct her ectopic ureters. She has captivated everyone that has met her, she goes to work with her foster dad at a nursing facility and has drawn so many of the patients our of their shells and they look forward to her visit...She is just a charmer, her only issue is the constant leaking of her urine which can be fixed with this surgery... Dr. Townsend at NEAMC is ready to go forward with it.. Can you help this sweet pup  again?

Hey guys - we’re back to square one with Bentley. Most people know he was left to die in a home with no food or water. He was days away from organ failure and we would have lost a very loved boy. He’s overcome more in his short life that most of us could ever imagine in our entire lives and Karen Hawco was the best foster to this boy the two times he needed her most. Bentley was adopted for a second time into a home after who gave up on him without even bothering with training and she overdosed him on dangerous medications. Now he’s living in a wonderful home with someone many people love and respect. Roy Fowlie helped raise money for some training and has been a huge advocate for Bentley.

While in training with Thora, one of the scariest things has come to our attention. Bentley began throwing up objects and not holding down his food or water. Whatever he was scrounging for when starving a year ago has finally started to come out and has caused a few serious blockages. He has gone in for multiple X-rays, an ultrasound and they found many objects lodged into his stomach and intestines. He could die any day now. Of course this happened on a weekend when surgeons are not readily available so he has had fluids and medication and will be going in for an exploratory and invasive surgery tomorrow. We are all very scared and stressed, this has been a very hard 4 days for the rescue. Roy and Thora are taking the brunt of the emotional factor. 

We need your help to save his life. His life is on the line and no one can afford upwards of $9,000 for a surgery. We can’t lose our beloved boy to a blockage. He’s been through enough and the hits keep coming.

Our Bentley boy needs to hang out with one of our favorite trainers for a few weeks. He needs our help to pay the discounted fee so that he can gain the confidence and trust he needs to be the best boy he can be. 

Some of you may remember Bentley’s story. He came to us at 4 months old and had already been passed around to numerous homes. That can be very scary in any dog’s life, especially a puppy who is in the beginning learning stages of their life. 

CARE processed many applications, did home visits, reference checks, spoke with personal friends and met with who was, at the time, a wonderful couple for Bentley. He was adopted only to be left to die by one of the adopters (there had been a break-up and clearly some sore of break-down with the “human” who had him” and found by a wonderful person just in time. Bentley had to fight for food, water and for his life. As a very young dog, he again underwent an incredible amount of stress and trauma. 

Bentley was rehabbed and brought back to health. He came back the champion of a dog that he is, with some issues with impulse control and fixating on things like food and toys (this is totally normal for what he has been through). His interim mom made him feel safe, advocated for his needs, and had Bentley on a structured regimen until he was ready to head to a home without any felines. He has since gone through some more changes, and is telling us he needs help. He needs structure, a leader, and training. He is a fun-loving, sweet, brave, and happy boy. And right now he needs us all to come together to work on his future and get beyond his past.
