Please help Bryant Community Center prepare neighborhood students to head back to school in person after a very long year and a half. We are working to make this year's Back to School Picnic on August 26th extra special. This event will gather the neighborhood to say goodbye to Summer and boost energy for the coming school year.

 

Bryant Community Center serves some of Ann Arbor's most underserved, racially diverse and vital neighborhoods. It is a program of Community Action Network (CAN).

 

Bryant/CAN's after school tutoring and academic enrichment programs contribute to its students' 97% high school graduation rate v. 70% rate for AAPS low-income students (2015).

 

Bryant/CAN's after school and basic need services are so successful that in the last 15 years there have been ZERO evictions due to nonpayment of rent.

Fundraiser for HEPA Filtration for the Bryant Community Center, who work to close socio-economic gaps in our community through educational and supportive services to SE Ann Arbor Children and families.

With COVID-19 cases rising in the community, we want to support the Bryant Community Center (BCC) to continue to safely provide students with critical face-to-face services.  We are fundraising $1600 to purchase two industrial grade HEPA room air filters, one for each gathering space in the BCC facility.  Along with other transmission mitigation strategies, these HEPA systems would allow BCC to continue to welcome children and their families while protecting both those served, and staff, from the risks of COVID-19 transmission.

The Bryant Community Center  (BCC) is part of the Community Action Network  (CAN), which envisions the closing of socio-economic gaps by providing educational and enrichment programs for children and teens, supportive services for families who are under-resourced, and challenging systems rooted in racism and inequality.   The BCC is located in the Bryant/Arbor Oaks/Stoneybrook neighborhood of SE Ann Arbor.  The BCC neighborhood community includes 260+ households, of which 75% experience low incomes.

In a normal year, BCC provides critical services to youth in the community, including after school programming, meal support, mentorship, academic support, social-emotional enrichment, creative arts programming and school-family liaison services.  Each of these services supports CAN’s mission to close socio-economic gaps and address systemic racism and inequality.

In this unusual pandemic year, BCC has stepped forward to offer additional educational support during the school day, including access to technology, WiFi, food, supplies, and tutoring for children.  This includes face-to-face support for 20-30 children throughout the day who utilize BCC as their home away from home.

As COVID-19 continues to threaten the health of our community, we cannot ignore that the socio-economic gaps are widening and the threat is greatest to those in our community who are already in the most vulnerable state.  Please help us support the BCC to do their important work!  Any funds raised above and beyond our set goal of $1600 will be applied directly to support BCC's youth educational programming.  Click here  to learn more about how you can be a part of CAN's "Theory of Change".
