Linked to Our Communities
It’s time again for our annual community support projects. Each year, we have projects like our food drives, angel tree, and community sponsorships that we take part in. These efforts help to support our neighbors in need in the Lakeway and Montreal areas in which we operate.
In the Lakeway area, specifically Cocke and Greene Counties, have experienced devastating flooding from Hurricane Helene. In Morristown, this year, we would like to include those affected by the floods in our community support events. Working closely with community leaders and county government to understand the specific needs of various areas and ensuring that any goods raised can reach those neighborhoods and people who need it most. As those needs change, our highlighted necessities list is updated and communicated out to the workforce.
The Daily Bread has seen an increase in meals served each day, from 220 to 265 meals per day. The families that stop in at The Daily Bread aren’t only those without homes, but working families that have experienced hardship, the elderly, and our veterans that live in the area. Everyone is greeted with a smile and a hot, prepared meal. If patrons need shoes, blankets, or coats, The Daily Bread is happy to provide those necessities. (Each meal is approximately $4; with the increase in meals, the cost for The Daily Bread has increased by $65k annually.)
We’re excited to show our communities how much they and their families, neighbors, and businesses mean to us. We will kick off our poster design contest on the theme of “Linked to our Communities”; we’ve had one vendor pledge $500 to the team with the most votes. Posters are being presented Tuesday, October 22nd, and then will be in the employee entrance hallway for voting through Friday, October 25th at noon. Winner announced Friday afternoon! Watch our LinkedIn page and the GoFundMe page update for our team's creative designs!
Donations begin October 21, 2024, through November 19, 2024, and we present the donations on November 20th.
As always, your participation and support of our community is greatly appreciated.
