Hello, my name is Thupten Donyo, director of Delek Children's Foundation. We are raising funds for Vision Camp program for the people of Nepal in April 2024. In partnership with a group of local optometrists, we will be organizing a Vision Care Camp in rural area of Tsum Valley in Nepal in the Himalayas and we want to offer free eye exams, cataract surgeries and distribute free reading glasses to those in need of glasses. We are expecting to provide reading glasses to thousand or more people during the vision camp. We will also be distributing shoes to children as we have noticed that many children in remote villages lack a pair of shoes. Your contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in bringing clear vision and comfortable steps to the children of Tsum Valley. With your support, we are confident that we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these children. Today, I am writing this letter on behalf of the seniors of Tsum -Nubri Valley, Nepal. As many of you know, I am organizing another Vision Care Camp in Tsum-Nubri Valley in the coming April and preparing for the trip with over a thousand reading glasses and 800 or more shoes.

While communicating with people in Tsum-Nubri, I received a heartfelt request from them. Their elders have spent their whole lives in these villages and many have never stepped foot out of their village. We asked if they needed any assistance with food supplies or clothes but they declined though they needed it. Instead, they all wish for an opportunity to seek blessings from His Holiness Dalai Lama in person. I immediately accepted their request without giving much thought to finances and neither was I aware of the cost for the whole trip all the way from Tsum-Nubri, Nepal to Dharamsala, India. They are now waiting for my arrival so that we can fulfill their lifelong dream.

So, right after completing the Vision Care Camp, I am now planning to take a group of around 40 seniors from Tsum-Nubri Valley to seek blessings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India. This pilgrimage holds immense significance for these seniors, many of whom have only seen His Holiness portrait or have access to his teachings on videos, and expressed a lifelong desire to receive blessings from His Holiness in person.

However, I realized that organizing such a trip involves various logistical and financial considerations. Therefore, I am reaching out to my generous donors like you to request financial support to make this pilgrimage a reality for these seniors. Your contribution will help cover travel expenses, accommodation, meals, and other essential needs throughout the journey. We will also assign two nurses who have recently completed their education through our scholarship program and will have four volunteers to assist the seniors. The whole journey will take around 16 days from Nepal to India with a bus ride for 2 days from Kathmandu to Delhi and another 12 hours bus ride from Delhi to Dharamsala. After their audience with His Holiness, I am going to arrange a pilgrimage for them for a few days in and around Dharamsala. I will also accompany them on the bus journey from Nepal to India to make sure the journey runs smoothly.

We believe that every senior deserves the opportunity to fulfill their spiritual aspirations and create meaningful memories in their later years.

So, I come to you with my humble request to join me in fulfilling these seniors' lifelong wish to get an audience and blessing from His Holiness.

This is an urgent appeal to you all to join me in raising funds for Tibetan Cancer Society who is currently engaged in providing much needed Covid related medical assistance in New Delhi, India. Many of you might be aware of the dire situation, India is facing due to the 2nd wave of Covid-19 pandemic specially in big cities like Delhi and Mumbai. This 2nd wave has put a major pressure on medical infrastructure. There were many cases of Covid patients losing lives due to the lack of hospital beds, Oxygen, Ventilators and proper medical treatments. According to Mr. Tsultrim Dorjee, Director of Tibetan Cancer Society "The Covid-19 situation in Delhi is overwhelming hospitals' beds and other medical resources. As of now, there are thousands of people infected and every hour people are dying in Delhi. Patients are lined up in front of the hospitals and it is almost impossible to get a bed inside hospitals. In this dire situation, we are trying to help patients get the required treatments".  You may read this news updates from CNN   for more details.

Mr. Tsultrim contacted me to help them buy oxygen concentrators and other necessities during this medical emergency. We are trying our best to help the TCS’s request but we need your help to save more lives. 

The Tibetan Cancer Society is based in India and their main objective is to assist people with medical emergencies and organize health camps in Tibetan refugee settlements. During this pandemic, they have been assisting many people who are affected by Covid but they need urgent financial support.

With this campaign whatever funds we receive will be sent to Tibetan Cancer Society. Since the Delek Children’s Foundation is a very small organization and our primary objective is for children’s education. A small portion of our funds are usually distributed to families in the Himalayas for medical emergencies. We have decided to sponsor 4 oxygen concentrators and I’m requesting everyone to donate generously to accomplish the rest of their needs .

They currently need funds for the the following: 

1. 3 Nurses salaries for 2 months : INR 20,000 x 6 = INR 120,000
2. Oxygen Concentrator : INR 100,000 x 6 = INR 60000
3. Ambulance fuel for 2 months :  INR 50,000 x 2 = INR 100,000
4. Oxygen Mask : INR 50 x 200 pieces = INR 10,000
5. Patient Food Expense : INR 200,000
6. Patient Medicine cost : INR 100,000
7. PPE kits : INR 500 x 100 pcs = INR 50,000
8. Sanitizer 5L : INR 700 x 10 pcs = INR 7000
9. Small Hand sanitizer : INR 50 x 100 pcs = INR 5000
10. Hospital admission emergency fund : INR 300000
11. Multi parameter monitor : INR 35,000
12. Oxygen refill cost : INR 20,000
