Hungry For Halloween to Feed More in WNY
At The Salon Professional Academy in Tonawanda NY we believe that looking and feeling your best starts with doing your best. Our 4th annual Hungry 4 Halloween event is a great opportunity to give back to our community by raising money for FeedMore WNY while teaching our students the importance of making a difference in the lives of others. Our students, educators and alumni join forces to provide hair, skin and nail services to the public for $10-$40 while offering additional fun for our guests to take advantage of. The Hungry 4 Halloween event kicks off a month long food drive and silent basket auction and all proceeds go directly to FeedMore WNY. Help us reach our goal of $5000 by joining us on 10/23/2024 for services at The Salon Professional Academy located at 2309 Eggert Rd, Tonawanda NY or stop in anytime throughout the month to drop off food, or join in on the fundraising fun.

Stampede to the Stadium for FeedMore WNY
Every year, I run a 17 miles route from North Buffalo to Highmark Stadium for the Buffalo Bills home opener, as a celebration of one of the most fun, exciting days of the year. The Buffalo Bills are a staple of the community, and it's a time for the city to come together and experience a party like no other.

This year is a little different. This year, the city of Buffalo was shaken by a horrific incident that took place on May 14th at Tops when 10 people were fatally shot in a heinous ac. In one of our city's darkest hours, community organizations were quick to respond to help the families of the victims. It was, and still is, an unthinkable event that would occur in Buffalo, but the City of Good Neighbors is here to support the family and friends of those who lost their lives in this horrific incident.

One of those organizations is FeedMore WNY. They partnered with Resource Council of WNY to distribute food donations to community members affected by the mass shooting. With a non-profit organization like that, it was an easy decision who I would like to fundraise for this year.

Buffalo "Food Desert" Neighborhood Needs Our Help
On Saturday May 14th, a horrendous and senseless tragedy occurred in Buffalo, NY. A white supremacist opened fire at Tops Grocery Store on Jefferson Avenue on the East Side of Buffalo. 10 people were killed, 3 were injured, and thousands were left traumatized.

I lived in this neighborhood for 5 years, and during that time I frequented that grocery store often. This neighborhood in particular is known as a "food desert." That means that this is the only grocery store within walking distance for the people who live there. Leaving them with little access to affordable and nutritious food. Many people in this area do not have their own vehicle, so driving to an alternative grocery store is not an option. This horrific tragedy has left this community without easy access to food.

I am deeply saddened by this past weekend's events and cannot wrap my head around the evil that exists in our world. However, I know that love always triumphs over hate. Living in that community for 5 years was a time in my life that I loved. I met some of the warmest, kindest, joyous souls in that neighborhood. None of them deserved this, and none of them deserve to have to go without food because of one pathetic man’s actions.

I created this fundraiser in honor of those who lost their lives. All proceeds will go to FeedMore WNY, who will be distributing food at various locations across the East Side throughout the upcoming weeks. Please donate anything you can! No amount is too small!

I'm sending prayers, love, and light to all the families of the victims, and to our entire city who is sharing in their pain.

Anthony Polizzi's reboot of Huddle for Hunger
Our brother Anthony loved the Bills. He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on December 29, 2020. We want to remember the light and laughter that was his life, by rebooting the Bills' Huddle for Hunger food drive, which raised money for the WNY charity FeedMore Foundation in September. Anthony would be so proud if we could rally support for WNY and follow the Bills' lead. Buffalo was always his home, no matter where in the world he was. He wore his Bills colors proudly, and brought his friends and family together through his love of the Bills. Please help us in remembering Anthony by donating to this great charity.

As Buffalo and Kansas City prepare for the AFC Championship game, Morning Bull with Rich ("Bull") Gaenzler and Rob Lederman from 97 Rock asked Joe Dash owner of Dash's Market, to take a stand and remove KC Masterpiece™ Sauces from shelves, the makers of KC Masterpiece responded in the most Buffalo way possible. Laughing along with the joke, the team at KC Masterpiece wanted to show that their commitment to the community still stands.

That’s when they reached out to Drew Cerza, The Wing King, Buffalo native and passionate supporter of local Food Banks.

Inspired by Buffalo fans generous tendencies to donate to great causes, KC Masterpiece will be donating $5,000 plus 5,000 bottles of their BBQ sauce to be shared evenly by FeedMore WNY and Harvesters- Community Food Network in Kansas City, MO.

We want to encourage a little friendly competition and encourage fans to donate as well. No matter which team wins, the final total will be split evenly between the two food banks

Please join me in contributing to the CPL Cares – Buffalo Fundraising Campaign. Through your votes, our office has chosen FeedMoreWNY (formerly Food Bank of WNY) as the designated charitable organization. CPL will match $1 per $1 donated, up to a $50 match per person.

FeedMore WNY is a recent uniting of forces between the Food Bank of WNY and Meals on Wheels for WNY, leveraging their resources to strengthen the overall support network. Serving Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, and Niagara Counties. Providing these communities with access to nutritious food along with helping develop the skills and education needed to promote a healthy eating environment.

It is imperative that during these trying times we reach out to organizations such as FeedMore WNY to lend what we can and help them support our neighbors during the COVID-19 Crisis.
