The Lawn at Deerpath

The Deerpath Golf Course Renovation Project continues and we are excited to complete this new phase, The Lawn. Donations are being accepted for this amazing amenity. Read below for details!

 

The Idea

Create a world-class putting and chipping experience that provides for both fun and serious practice options for users of Deerpath Golf Course. Inspired by the public-access Ladies' Putting Course in St. Andrews, Scotland, "putting lawns" are the popular new craze at many resorts and private clubs across the United States.

 

The Lawn At Deerpath will be the first of its kind at a public venue in the Chicago-land area. The 30,000 square foot bentgrass green would cater to all ages and abilities, offering putting and short-game chipping practice for the serious golfer while providing a fun "after-golf" putting experience for kids, families and group outings.

The Wildlife Discovery Center is a living museum and biological station at historic Elawa Farm, situated alongside the Middlefork Savanna, a 670-acre wildlife habitat in Lake Forest.

The WDC is home to approximately 85 species of animals. During regular visiting hours, you can talk with our animal keepers and meet some of our amazing animals. In addition to visiting our resident animals, you can enjoy a hike and nature observation on the adjacent Middlefork Trail, or visit the Elawa Farm Park where you and your family can enjoy a picnic in the pavilion, play soccer in the field, or have fun in the huge playground. Our exhibits and programs provide an experience that will kindle a lifetime bond with nature.

At the WDC, there is something for everyone!

Your generous support will help us upgrade our animal exhibits, continue to provide high-quality care and enrichment for all of our animals, and support the conservation work at the WDC. Several capital improvements have been made possible through the support of generous donors, including the soon to be completed extension to our Bobcat enclosure, and the predator-proof roof on our outdoor turtle pond.

Lake Forest Sailing is an accredited U.S Sailing Community Sailing Program. We specialize in youth learn to sail and youth racing. We also teach adults and have an adaptive sailing specific keel boat.

LFS is continuously fundraising to be able to provide amazing opportunities for the Lake Forest sailing community. Donations are put towards a few different initiatives.

First, they are used to maintain and grow our fleet of sailboats, the more sailboats we have, the more kids we can get out on Lake Michigan! With the help of donations we are also looking to charter various high performance dinghies for bespoke training sessions to broaden our sailor’s horizons.

Secondly, donations can be specified to our scholarship fund. The scholarship fund is used to offset fees for those who need it. This allows us to get kids sailing who may not have had the opportunity otherwise. These funds can also be used to offset the cost of race travel in similar situations.

Finally, donations are used to bring in unique opportunities for our sailors. We often bring in well-known and epic sailors for speaking series or coaching. These sessions, whether a zoom call or a week of coaching, help our sailors realize their full potential and inspire them to further their own sailing.

The seeds that are planted at Kinderhaven Preschool Academy continue to flourish throughout the child's formative years, producing thoughtful, caring, curious and involved human beings.

Kinderhaven Preschool Academy is a developmental preschool for children ages 2 1/2 to 6, licensed by the State of Illinois. Our approach and curriculum have been influenced by the preschools of Reggio Emilia. They are supported by short and long-term projects that are inspired by the children's interests, knowledge of early childhood development and topics that are generally of interest to children. Embedded in these projects are the tools and opportunities for all children to develop concepts and skills that will lead to a successful school experience and a desire to learn. Our educators are dedicated Early Childhood Professionals committed to upholding our mission and goals.

The Lake Forest Parks & Recreation Athletics Team strives to offer the communities' youth a positive athletic experience with an emphasis on sportsmanship and fair play; in order to help them grow both as individuals and athletes. We offer a wide variety of athletic programs to provide young people with a safe and enjoyable athletic experience, stressing skill development and teamwork.

Located at 60 E. Old Mill Road Stirling Hall houses a fully-equipped, professionally staffed art center with an emphasis on ceramics. We offer adult and youth art classes in wheel throwing, hand building, mosaics, sculpture, tile, and painting. We also offer seasonal workshops for adults and children. Student work

can be fired in various ways; electric, gas, raku and soda kilns are available.

Classes: Our Painting and Drawing Class, as well as our two Mosaic classes, diversify our programing and complement the opportunities in the ceramic studio: Wheel Throwing, Hand Building, Figure Sculpture, and Tile Design. Ceramic students have firing options of gas reduction, soda, raku, and pit firing.

Workshops: Stirling Hall Art Center offers a wide range of adult workshops and youth workshops. Workshops are offered during all seasons to provide a variety of options to our students and continually expand the mediums that are worked with at the art center.
