GSD Sanctuary Driven by Faith
After rescuing over 650 dogs since 2011, the rescue has increasingly added more SANCTUARY German Shepherd Dogs. There are hundreds of local rescues but there are very few sanctuaries. The need for sanctuary dogs continues to increase each year. So much so, that the rescue now has twenty in long-term care. Of those, three feral dogs remain from a seizure in 2014. Managing a sanctuary poses additional concerns. There is never an adoption fee to absorb the cost of their care and the space they call home, cannot be reused for months or years. Still, this is my focus because this is the greatest need.
The rescue prides itself for taking on seemingly impossible cases because I pull by Faith. I don't believe in the impossible. I believe there are ways that are yet to be seen. When I see a senior GSD behind a cage door, I don't see that dog as being a candidate for adoption. I see that dog as a separate soul who deserves every chance of a redeemed and loved life, whether that is with me for its lifetime or with an adoptive home. It is the spirit of rescue!
I have given everything I have to keep the rescue going. It has been done with happiness and gratefulness. It is not a burden to give all I have because it feels natural. Because I am trying to raise much needed funds on this platform, I feel the need to provide details and proof. This is what I have done for this rescue:
1) Cashed in my 401K when all I had was $600
2) Have not spent an entire Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. with my family since 2012.
3) Have not had a vacation since 2011.
4) I average 3 days off a year. This is not a typo.
5) I have been brutally attacked once, severely bitten by a feral (totally my fault), had my hip broken by a dog running up behind me. I STILL LOVE THIS RESCUE. I cleaned the rescue while using a cane so that I could get back to the GSDs.
6) I buy most of my clothes at Goodwill to save money. I buy my shoes new because I need good quality shoes for the kennel.
7) I have Chron's Disease but I took myself all my medication believing that God was in control. I have been in remission since 2012.
8) I have a modest lifestyle because the rescue is more important than a fancy personal belongings. I don't want anything.
9) I believe with all I am, that this rescue is meant to continue and thrive.
10) Because there naturally has to be a #10, I believe in His glory and all that he has given this rescue. It has come as heartache, ecstatic highs, deep sadness, and incredible feelings of LOVE.
So, I suppose LOVE caused the rescue to be full. So, now it is time. In order for the rescue to continue, more space is an absolute necessity; not merely a want. I am asking for grace and blessings through sharing, donating, and prayers for the continuance of GSD Rescue Indy and Sanctuary. The rescue needs to purchase property that is perfect for the life of the rescue! The rescue has its current building for sale but because it is very hard to show a building with barking and lunging dogs in potential buyer's faces, the rescue is looking to lease a property. Once the building is sold, the rescue would purchase the property it is leasing. The rescue has placed a formal offer to purchase on the property which is already set up as a kennel! The rescue needs $10K in earnest money ASAP along with $2K a month in rent plus funds for utilities (10,000 sq ft facility). The rescue also needs to have property rezoned as it is specific to the needs of the former owners.
Once the rescue building is sold, only a small amount will be left and that will need to go towards installing kennels in already constructed in/out door kennels (previous owner took all in and out kennels).
The rescue is seeking $25,000 for earnest money, a few months rent, utilities, rezoning fees, and possible some kennels.
Thanks for any consideration. I know there are so many great organizations who need funds to continue. I hope you'll find it in your heart to help this one.
May God continue to Bless this rescue and all His German Shepherd Dogs!https://www.germanshepherdrescueindy.com
