Global Alliance for ICT and Development

We are organizing a global charity online marathon, "A Computer Class for Every School" on November 20, 2024, to mark the 100th Anniversary of the Geneva Declaration of the Rights of the Child and highlight the urgent need to provide gently used computers to over 450,000 schools in Africa.

250 million young boys and girls are deprived of basic computer literacy, a critical skill to bridge the growing digital divide. Hosted by the Global Alliance for ICT and Development, this event aims to launch international dialogue on children’s rights and equitable access to education.

Funds raised from this marathon will go directly toward providing computers sourced from Europe and America and procuring desks and essential classroom equipment to create fully equipped learning environments.

We are raising funds to set up computer classes in schools across Cameroon, giving children access to modern technology and improving the quality of their education. Our goal is to provide schools with essential computers, and in some cases, additional desks to create a comfortable learning environment.

How It Works

The funds will go towards purchasing and shipping gently used computers from the US and Europe to Cameroon. Each classroom will be equipped with around 20 computers, allowing more children to gain valuable digital skills. Key expenses include purchasing second-hand computers or preparing donated devices, logistics, and installation in the schools.

Project Cost

Establishing a fully equipped computer class costs approximately $2,000–$3,000. This amount covers all steps—from acquisition and transportation to classroom setup. Your contribution will help us bring this vision closer and make technology accessible to students in Cameroon.
