Grace Smith House: Help Domestic Violence Victims
We are students at Marist College currently raising money for Grace Smith House, a domestic violence shelter in the Hudson Valley area. Grace Smith House provides aid and shelter to victims of domestic abuse to help them recover and provides resources to the community to prevent domestic violence. Our goal is to raise $1000 to provide funds so the organization can continue to give its support to their large base of recipients.

ATA's Dress Down Day for the Grace Smith House
On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, we will come together as a district and participate in a dress down day to benefit Grace Smith House.

Grace Smith House is a private not-for-profit domestic violence agency, which provides both residential and non-residential services to victims of domestic violence and their children. Today, Grace Smith House has grown from one crisis shelter at its inception in 1981, to two shelters, one second stage housing and a follow-up and non-residential program. Their programs provide adult & child counseling, family court advocacy, Child Protective Services, Social Services advocacy, life skills training, continuing support groups and education about domestic violence.

In addition, Grace Smith House offers free educational services to local districts, including Arlington, where they come in to classrooms to discuss issues such as cyber-bullying, healthy friendships, and teen dating.

Grace Smith House was a place that helped me get to where I am today. From victim 2 victim NO MORE! I have rights! We have rights. These rights are called human rights. Human rights for ALL!

On October 3rd-4th I will run 100 miles from Albany to Beacon. This run is called FL!P IT 4 RESPECT. It's an initiative I created to educate, engage and empower others of their Human Rights.

So, today I run to spread awareness of our Human Rights. Today, I educate others about their Human Rights. Now, I am able to protect and uphold Human Rights for myself and others.

FL!P IT 4 RESPECT is partnering with Grace Smith House to kick-off domestic violence awareness month by highlighting our rights as humans to be treated with RESPECT.

Because RESPECT, is more than just a message, it is our birthright!

Grace Smith House is a place for individuals and families to go to for help when their human rights have been violated.

Home shouldn't be a scary place!

The Grace Pumpkin Parade is a Halloween-themed community event, which supports the mission of Grace Smith House.

Since 1981, Grace Smith House has worked empower survivors of domestic violence to rebuild their lives. We provide a 24 hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, support, counseling, advocacy, prevention education and more in Dutchess County, NY.

Share our fundraising page with family and friends to help us raise money and support our efforts to make home a safe place.

All proceeds from the event benefit Grace Smith House programs.

WHY I TRICK OR TREAT FOR GRACE SMITH HOUSE

I have been participating in the Grace Smith Pumpkin Parade since its inception. As the Hudson Valley Halloween Queen, I feel it’s my duty to help banish poltergeist activity in our community. Grace Smith House is a valued service to local men, women and children in need. No one should every feel fear in their own home. People are often blind to vengeful spirits they cannot see. Having been witness to domestic violence, I can tell you first hand — it’s scarier than any horror movie you will ever see. This frightfully fun event creates awareness for domestic violence in a way that is fun and friendly. If with the wave of my wand, I can lift the shadows from one person or family, I have done my job. Raising money for GSH is a small effort that reaps great rewards.
