Greater Chicago Food Depository

Thank you for visiting my GoFundMe page.  During the pandemic, in order to stay busy and healthy, I would venture out on long walks through my neighborhood and adjoining suburbs. While on these walks, I would constantly think that I needed to add a purpose to them that would benefit others beside my own personal health. Therefore, beginning at 6am on Saturday, June 19 , I am doing a solo walk from 7500 S. Western to 7500 N. Western. My goal is to raise $7500 (22,500 meals) to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Western Avenue is the longest street in the city of Chicago and provides easy access to many diverse communities in our city. It  is the only continuous street that links the far south side border of Chicago to the far north side border. My Walk on Western will take me through neighborhoods that benefit greatly from the services provided by the Greater Chicago Food Depository and should take roughly 6 hours to complete. Any donation is greatly appreciated.

As a result of the financial crisis due to COVID (or even prior to COVID), I have decided to match donations  for the The Greater Chicago Food Depository  up to $1,000. I am reaching out to my friends and family in hopes that you will give what you can and as much as you can toward this cause.  Countless families are sent away from Food Banks due shortage of food.  As a result of the staggering increase in food insecurity due to COVID 19, food banks are unable to keep up.  They are counting on us to help them extend their reach to those in need who are getting turned away due to limited resources.  Please share this with all your friends, family and any corporate associates who may be willing to contribute.

As you know, we are in trying times right now with COVID-19 taking center stage in all our lives. While this is affecting all of us in some way, it is affecting some more than others. As citizens of Chicago, and humans in general, I think it is our responsibility to work together and support each other in anyway that we can while we are moving to a better tomorrow.

Greater Chicago Food Depository is actively preparing to meet the demand for the increase in the need for food assistance across Chicago. Your donation will directly help provide meals for families affected by school closures due to COVID-19. The goal of $5,000 will help provide close to 15,000 meals for those in need. 100% of any donation will go to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
