It's happened again, and it's worse than ever. Covid's 3rd wave is ravaging Uganda and our kids are now not able to go to school which means that we must start the emergency food distribution again to keep the kids alive. Starvation is a real concern. I can't sugar coat this, if we don't provide some posho and beans we will lose precious children to hunger and starvation while they wait out the Covid shut down.

We have been in the process of building this Chapel/Multipurpose Center with classrooms for YEARS. We have had roadblock after roadblock, extreme challenges, and NOW it's going to finally become a reality! Due to very generous donations we are only $10,500 from our goal. Due to other expenses including fundraising costs we are setting our goal at $12,500 to finally complete the heart of our Ugandan school campus.

The general cost is a buck a brick. We are inviting you to buy bricks to complete this incredibly important project. What exactly will this Chapel be for the children of our school? Here are some of the amazing things that will happen in this space:

1. Children will be OUT OF THE ELEMENTS while they learn about Jesus, praise and worship, and are discipled at school. Right now they meet in this space, but there is no covering. They miss so many days of chapel because of rainy seasons...this will mean they no longer miss chapel time!

2. The Building will also be used as classrooms when not being used for chapel time. This will help us to meet the requirements of Covid related crowding rules, allowing our school to open!

3. The Chapel will also meet all requirements to serve as a TESTING SITE for our students. The Ugandan government requirements for standardized testing will be met and our kids will not longer have to travel long distances to test.

4. The building can be used for other activities when not in use for chapel such as meeting space, music lesson space, drama and speech practicing, and so much more.

Let's do this! We have left this foundation sitting for too long. It's time to complete this project and prioritize the Chapel as the heartbeat of Shikhuyu Needy Care School!

The food money has been exhausted for the most part, so it's time to feed these hungry kids again! 

Covid is still stopping us from having food on the campus, so we have been packing and sending home weekly rations so kids will not starve.  I am honestly not exaggerating.  Without these commodities, many of our beloved kids would not have survived the shut down.  In the village and in Uganda in general you won't find food banks or welfare/WIC/foodstamps.  We are it.  You are it.

Every month we have to raise $4000 extra for the feeding process.  This food is maximized by families so that no child in the home goes without something.  You are saving lives of not only the students, but their siblings and in some cases the parents or grandparents.

$5 provides food for one child for a month.  Yes, a month.  Please give if you can, and if you cannot...would you share this need on social media?  I have to send the funds in the next week, so time is not on our side.

It is with tremendous joy and thanksgiving that we announce that we are ready to raise the funding for an on campus chapel multi-use building in Uganda!  Oh  my word.  This dream was placed on Moses heart even before we met him, and then about 8 years ago, Jenn received a vision of a chapel for the kids..not even knowing that Moses had the same vision years prior. 

We believe that the time is NOW.  

Due to many reasons, we have not been able to complete a  large building on the campus that was started over 5 years ago.  This building is the perfect size and configuration for the chapel.  The budget to complete this building is estimated at $60K.

Currently, the 800+ children who attend our school have chapel in this space outside.  It is fine when the weather permits, but during rainy season either children are soaked and have to attend school wet and cold..or chapel has to be cancelled.  This building will ensure that the kids learn about and get to worship the Lord all year long!

Additionally the building can be also used in these ways after morning services:
-  Classrooms using dividers to break up the larger space
-  Drama, dance, and music classes and practice
-  Government approved space for taking tests that require proctors!  This is HUGE.  We have had to send our kids to other schools to take national tests and those schools have boasted our top grades as their own due to a lack of space on our campus for proctored tests.  This space allows us to register as an accredited school with an official test site!  Oh, my heart is leaping with joy!
-  Debate club, after school clubs, and even youth ministry space!
-  Part of the space will also be used for safely storing our music instruments and costumes.

We are so excited for this to come to be!  We have  a Jan 1 goal for raising these funds so that it can be completed before the Feb 2021 school year begins. Join us?  Brick by precious brick we are a part of this story..an army is rising from this school of kids who love JESUS and are going to change the trajectory of the future for generations to come.

Covid has brought Uganda to a stand still, and children from our school in Uganda are suffering.  But, since the start, we have enacted a government approved emergency food distribution program where kids get food every week to bring home for their family!  We serve nearly 900 children in Uganda, and this food is literally preventing starvation and suffering.  The cost is less than $5 per child in the school for a month of food provisions!  Every month we have to raise $4000 for this project, and we are out of money at this time for September.  Please consider partnering with us to prevent severe suffering as we wait and pray for the school to be allowed to re-open.  Thank you!

Our Ugandan adopted daughter Membo, who we consider to be our beloved girl, is in need of lifesaving surgery.  She is literally starving to death.   The photo on the left was taken while I was with her a month ago.  The right is last week.  Her bones are showing, and I barely recognize her face.

We just discovered that her body has a rare disorder called Achalasia Cardia with an intramural tumor.  In short, her esophagus is not working, and has constricted at the top of the stomach, so no food or water can enter.  She vomits anything she tries to swallow within 20 seconds.  The damage done by the stomach acid and undigested food has caused a suspicious Lesion, which they are calling a Tumor.  We are awaiting biopsy results to rule out cancer.  In the meantime, she needs urgent surgery to open the muscle that is constricted in her esophagus to allow food and water to enter her digestive system.  In Uganda, you cannot get surgery unless you pay FIRST.  This is where we are asking for your help.  

The surgery to open her esophagus is under $1000, however she is hospitalized, and we need to pay for that as well, and her after care, further appointments, medications, and transportation to a specialist.  We are estimating $2000 to start with.

Membo is 14, and among the BRIGHTEST kids we have ever met.  She loves Jesus and insists that He is going to heal her.  She told us she is not afraid to die, but is afraid to die before she does what the Lord created her to do in her life.  She wants to save the lives of children in her district and serve in the Government to create change for her community.  She is quite remarkable.  Membo is sponsored by myself, my husband Paul and two other remarkable families who love her dearly.  We are all pooling our resources to make sure she gets the education she needs to be the change in Uganda.
