Do you know?

1)About 40% of Sub-Saharan Africa lacks access to clean water. That's almost equivalent to the entire population of the United States.

2) 115 people in Africa die every hour to diseases linked to poor water quality.

3) 2/3 of Sub-Saharan Africa rely on unclean sources of water such as surface water to stay alive.

4) African women carry more than 40 pounds of water on their head to support their family.

5) Climate change has worsened the damage done by droughts and is still doing so.

The Prophet Muhammad SAW said that the Ummah is one body, and if one part is hurt the whole body suffers. Let us unite, and end the unfortunate suffering that has fallen upon our brothers and sisters in Yemen.

        Allow us to introduce ourselves! We are 4 cousins: Yusuf, Aydin, Zayd and Nyla.  Since we are separated by the US/Canada border (and Covid-19 this year), we decided to unite for a good cause in these last few days of Ramadan.
       Helping Hand is a charity that is allowing kids like us to support orphans with disabilities in less fortunate areas of the world. We learned that for just $2/day (the price of a TWIX bar) we can help a  brother or a sister with the resources they need to reach their full potential. This includes providing medical support, therapy, education, transportation, food and anything else they need to thrive.

A BIG thank you to all our donors, the support is beyond what we imagined!! In such a short amount of time we have enough to sponsor 6 children with disabilites for an entire year inshallah! May Allah SWT bless you all and accept everyone's efforts.

Any additional funds collected until the 24th of May will go to the same cause through Helping Hand inshAllah.

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money for Helping Hand for Relief & Development Inc. to help support their Water for Life program. My goal this Ramadan is to build a water well that will provide access to clean drinking water.

For some of us, Ramadan is the only month where we go without food or water. For the rest of the world, they have to live every day unsure if they'll even get a sip of water, let alone drinkable water. To make this a more meaningful Ramadan, let's not only think about the underprivileged while fasting but let's also try to make an actual difference in their lives by providing access to clean drinking water. Our beloved brother, son and friend Hamza Faizi passed away this week at the age of 20 after a year-long battle with cancer. In his memory, we are raising funds to support Helping Hand for Relief and Development's Water For Life project. We hope to honor Hamza's strength and perseverance by helping to save the lives of many others.

HHRD's Water For Life improves access to clean drinking water through the installation of hand pumps, water filtration plants, construction of tube-wells, water wells, water storage tanks and water supply schemes to meet basic and livelihood needs. The money you give will go towards providing people in Africa and South Asia access to clean drinking water for the rest of their lives. InshaAllah your donation will count as a form of sadaqah jariyah (continuous charity) and you will receive its ongoing reward in both this life and the next.

My name is Janelle and I am looking to fundraise for a cause that is tugging at so many of our heartstrings, the Syrian Refugee crisis.

Syria’s civil war has been called by some to be 'the worst humanitarian crisis since WWII.'  Almost half of Syria's population, a staggering 4.8 million Syrians, have been forced from their homes and into a fight for survival. Even worse, half of these refugees are children. I'm sure I can speak for so many of us wondering from the comfort of our homes, "What can I REALLY do to help?"

After my own reading/research, as well as having just watched the Jon Stewart produced documentary "After Spring," (I highly recommend), I learned the simple but significant difference that shelter, specifically caravans, makes to Syrian refugee families.  Shelter is a survival mechanism in times of crisis or displacement. Shelter helps restore personal security, self-sufficiency and dignity, qualities that so many of these refugees have lost. It's for this reason I am hoping to fundraise for a caravan, a micro-home that includes two rooms, a small kitchen area, running water, and a functional toilet. On nights with freezing temperatures or unbearably hot afternoons, a caravan can be the difference between life and death.  A family can sit comfortably in a caravan and share a meal together. A child can safely play and learn in a caravan. A caravan provides more protection from the elements and intruders versus a tent.

Each caravan costs $5,000 which is why my fundraising goal is to purchase 1 caravan for a family in need. All of your honorable contributions will be sent to the good people of Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD https://www.hhrd.org), specifically 'Caravans of Hope.'

Please note that I do not work for HHRD. HHRD is a 4-star charity that is reported to donate 92% of proceeds to specific needs, like Caravans of Hope.  It has an overall rating of 98.23 (out of 100), a 97.50 for 'Financial' and 100 for 'Accountability and Transparency' according to Charity Navigator.
