Support California Wildfire Victims
The Homeownership Council of America (HCA) is a national nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to credit for underserved communities across the United States. As experts in community development, housing counseling, and mortgage lending, we provide technical assistance to lenders, develop innovative down payment and closing cost solutions, and offer certification and support for lenders with Special Purpose Credit Programs (SPCPs).
Underserved populations often face financial vulnerability, especially during the first five years of homeownership, due to limited savings and credit options. The Federal Reserve has found that even a small emergency expense of under $1,000 can lead to increased debt or delinquency for the average homeowner.
Our Response to California Wildfire Victims: The Rainy Day Fund
We are raising funds to support homeowners affected by the devastating California wildfires. Through the Rainy Day Fund, we aim to provide immediate financial assistance to help borrowers navigate life’s unexpected challenges and stay on track with their mortgage payments.
Eligible homeowners can apply for up to $4,500 in assistance for hardships such as:
Medical emergencies (for borrowers or dependents)
Death of a borrower
Job loss or significant reduction in income
Loss of transportation affecting the ability to work
To qualify, beneficiaries must remain current on their mortgage and complete a housing counseling session with one of HCA's partner HUD-Approved Housing Counseling Agencies.
Your contribution can make a significant impact, helping families stay in their homes during these challenging times. Support our mission and stand with California wildfire victims today.
