Humane Society of Tampa Bay

On Tuesday, April 22nd our friend Patrick Geanconteri lost a brave and furious struggle with a cancer that mercilessly cheated him of any opportunity to put up a righteous fight. This cancer had to cheat in order to win because Patrick would've put up one hell of a fight. Every one of his friends, coworkers, fellow teachers, current and former students are shocked at how fast it happened, because we knew, just knew, that cancer had picked the wrong person to attack.

In his last days, it was Patrick's wish to have no funeral or formal ceremony, and his ashes will be spread privately by his family. That does not mean we cannot celebrate his life in our own way that acknowledges his presence in our lives, the effect he had on his students, and the love he had for public education. Patrick loved his profession, loved his schools, loved coaching, and loved his kids.

More than being a teacher, mentor, and coach, Patrick loved animals, especially his two pups. While he was teaching at Gaither High School in Tampa, Patrick (Mr. G or Coach G, depending on if he was your teacher or coach) founded and sponsored a Humane Society Club that collected money, supplies, and food and encouraged volunteering for the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.

We, his friends and family, ask that you consider donating to this worthy and noble organization that means so much to the Bay area and to Patrick personally. No amount of money can bring Patrick back or bring comfort to those that loved him, but we can honor his memory by bringing love and joy to the defenseless animals that meant so much to him.

Want to join us in making a difference? We are Team HAPPSEI (Humane Answer to Pet Population and Shelter Euthanasia Issues). We are also known as the South Tampa Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate and Return (TNVR) Team.

To date, we have worked with our community to trap 62 feral cats and kittens, returning 47 cats to their respective colonies and putting up 15 kittens for adoption. This is a humane way of controlling the growing cat population here in South Tampa. We also support any cat rescue organizations in the Tampa Bay Area. Please consider making a small donation to this cause that means so much to our team. We are a small team of 7 individuals who work and/or go to school full-time, but we care so much about the cats and all animals who are in need. I have been volunteering at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay since 2008. They are dedicated to ending animal homelessness and providing care and comfort for companion animals in need. Mia is working with her Troop 61282 to fundraise for the Humane Society in Tampa, FL. Being 7 she wants to save and adopt all animals making this always a good cause to donate to. Sadly the storms hit FL and there is more need now for help because there are more animals in need. Mia loves cats/kittens, but there are donations needed for Dogs/puppies, guinea pigs, rabbits, birds, and other small pets at the Humane society. My name is Nicole Sperounis and I am the Community Service Director of Albany Business Leaders Emerging (ABLE). ABLE is a student-run organization at the University at Albany that focuses on professional development, while also hosting community service and fundraising events. My fellow ABLE executive board member, Olivia Dodsworth, and I wanted to start a fundraiser with the help of other student run organizations on campus in order to raise money for the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, as they have been working hard to help their community recover from the recent hurricanes in Florida. ABLE has partnered with Albany Sports Business Organization (ASBO), UAlbany Dance Council, UAlbany's Ultimate Frisbee team, UAlbany Gift of Life, the Capital Region Chapter of the American Meteorological Society, Building Ladies Up, UAlbany Medical Brigades, Phi Sigma Rho, and Doctor's 4 Hope to raise money for this organization.

Many areas in Florida are currently suffering following the aftermath of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. The Humane Society of Tampa Bay has been working hard to take in stray animals that have been displaced by these natural disasters. They are working alongside first responders to ensure these animals are brought to safety and are also trying to reunite pets with their owners. They have been helping the community by providing free pet food and supplies to those who have lost theirs following the storms. Please consider donating to them so they can continue helping people and their pets during this difficult time.
