Humane Society of Tampa Bay

My name is Nicole Sperounis and I am the Community Service Director of Albany Business Leaders Emerging (ABLE). ABLE is a student-run organization at the University at Albany that focuses on professional development, while also hosting community service and fundraising events. My fellow ABLE executive board member, Olivia Dodsworth, and I wanted to start a fundraiser with the help of other student run organizations on campus in order to raise money for the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, as they have been working hard to help their community recover from the recent hurricanes in Florida. ABLE has partnered with Albany Sports Business Organization (ASBO), UAlbany Dance Council, UAlbany's Ultimate Frisbee team, UAlbany Gift of Life, the Capital Region Chapter of the American Meteorological Society, Building Ladies Up, UAlbany Medical Brigades, Phi Sigma Rho, and Doctor's 4 Hope to raise money for this organization.

Many areas in Florida are currently suffering following the aftermath of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. The Humane Society of Tampa Bay has been working hard to take in stray animals that have been displaced by these natural disasters. They are working alongside first responders to ensure these animals are brought to safety and are also trying to reunite pets with their owners. They have been helping the community by providing free pet food and supplies to those who have lost theirs following the storms. Shelters are overflowing, and many pets have been separated from their families, while wildlife faces habitat destruction and food shortages. Fundraising efforts, including community events, online campaigns, and donation drives, aim to provide essential supplies like food, medical care, and shelter for these vulnerable animals.

By supporting these initiatives, we can help ensure that both pets and wildlife receive the care they desperately need, fostering a spirit of solidarity and compassion in the face of adversity.

Hello everybody, my name is Michael Bryant and I play professional soccer for Detroit City FC. As most of you know, Hurricane Milton has affected many parts of Florida and has caused severe damages, especially affecting animals. In an effort to assist the Tampa Humane Society with their needs and rescue efforts, I will be auctioning off a package that includes a signed DCFC jersey, two signed DCFC hats, and a signed DCFC scarf. To be included in the giveaway, a ticket will be generated in $10 increments. For example, if you donate $100, that will count as 10 ticket entries. I’m raising funds for the Tampa Bay Humane Society to support their vital efforts in rescuing animals abandoned and injured due to Hurricane Milton. As a newcomer to Florida, I’ve been deeply saddened by the devastation this hurricane has brought to families and their beloved pets. I, myself am an animal lover and seek to raise money to help the Humane Society of Tampa Bay put forth their best efforts to care for the animals in need. Many animals are now in desperate need of shelter, food, and medical care, and the Humane Society is on the front lines, working tirelessly to provide for them. Your support will help ensure these animals receive the care they need to recover and find loving homes. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these vulnerable creatures and help restore hope in our community.

Want to join us in making a difference? We are Team HAPPSEI (Humane Answer to Pet Population and Shelter Euthanasia Issues). We are also known as the South Tampa Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate and Return (TNVR) Team.

To date, we have worked with our community to trap 62 feral cats and kittens, returning 47 cats to their respective colonies and putting up 15 kittens for adoption. This is a humane way of controlling the growing cat population here in South Tampa. We also support any cat rescue organizations in the Tampa Bay Area. Please consider making a small donation to this cause that means so much to our team. We are a small team of 7 individuals who work and/or go to school full-time, but we care so much about the cats and all animals who are in need. I have been volunteering at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay since 2008. They are dedicated to ending animal homelessness and providing care and comfort for companion animals in need. We trapped on March 17th and got 20 cats and that was only on Gilda and Swain. Humane Society has said they will be working on our neighborhood to help us with our cat population. Please reach out if you have any questions or need help in Logan Gate with ferals in your area.

Update, we are trapping March 17th on Gilda and Rosemary and Trucious first. We hope to get around 20 cats if possible, they will be returned to the area they were picked up from, 1-2 days after they are vetted and fixed.

This is for the TNRV in Logan Gate Village. There are colonies of feral cats throughout the neighborhood and the Humane Society of Tampa Bay has offered to trap them, fix and vaccinate them for free. They did ask if we can collect money to help with the cost of the spay/neuter, vaccines, etc. This gofundme will go directly to them. Every dollar counts, if you can donate $1, $5 anything will help.

**I have changed the amount again after we trapped 20 cats and saw many, many more roaming. Each cat would cost around $30 to fix, this does not include the time of Adam from the TNVR program, gas to go back and forth and we don't know how many times they will have to come out. Humane Society is using some grant money but we need to raise some to cover the cost of the remaining cats.
