I am Nasrin Nadiry, an Afghan girl whose passion for mathematics has enabled me to overcome all social, cultural, and political obstacles to turn my dream into reality.

Fortunately, this passion for mathematics has led me to be accepted into universities such as Pennsylvania Western, UMASS Boston, University of Hawaii at Manoa, University of Hawaii at Pacific, University of Utah, Knox College, and the University of Michigan, along with partially funded prestigious scholarships such as the Premier Scholarship, Merit Award, Stephen Hawking Mathematics Scholarship, and Dearborn Scholarship.

My desired university is Pennsylvania Western University, which has granted me the Premier Scholarship, covering a partial amount of my housing and tuition fees. However, the scholarships are partial and do not cover all my expenses.

I am a survivor of three suicide bombings at educational centers in Kabul. One incident occurred at the Maud Course in August 2018, where I suffered psychological trauma and lost over 60 of my classmates. I witnessed suicide bombings for the second and third times at the Kawsar-e-Danish Course in March 2018 and October 2020. In the March incident, my hand was injured, and in the October incident, my spine was injured, requiring three surgeries over six months to finally be able to walk again.

Since these bombings, I have not fully recovered my health and continue to take medication. Following the October 2020 incident, I developed iron deficiency anemia and, more recently, have experienced significantly low blood oxygen levels. These health challenges have made the past four years extremely difficult, and I am still under treatment. Despite these hardships, my love for mathematics remains undiminished. For me, math is more than just numbers or a major; it is the language of creation, a way of thinking, and a method of problem-solving. I remain determined to follow in the footsteps of the great mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani.

To make this dream a reality, I need your cooperation. Pennsylvania Western University requires me to present a bank statement of $10,000 for my visa issuance. So let's join my journey and let the magic happen.

Goal: $60,000 will cover the treatment cost of Shokria

On August 15th, 2018 a massive suicide bomb in western Kabul targeted nearly 400 young male and female students preparing to pass the Kankor examination for university entrance in an educational center. The terrorist attack resulted in 59 being killed and more than 90 students injured. This fundraiser aims to raise money for a young female student who was injured during this attack at Mawood educational center.

Shokria Qurbani is a young Hazara girl from Afghanistan, who was injured by this terrorist attack. Sadly, Shokria got severe injuries in the spinal cord, arm, and neck. In September 2018 she got the chance to travel to India for her medical treatment and underwent two surgeries at Medanta Hospital. After the two surgries the wounds on her arm and back got healed, unfortunately, Shokria lost the ability to stand on her feet and walk. Over the coming years, the Beijing Puhua hospital in China assured to help her, but due to the Coronavirus pandemic, this did not occur.

And recently the Heidelberg hospital in Germany agreed to take the responsibility for her treatments with the cost of 56,000£ (approximately 60,000$) for the entire treatment. Since Shokria’s illness must be considered urgent, the current situation in Afghanistan makes it much harder for Shokria and her family to provide a huge amount of money, the Heidelberg hospital in Germany is ready to do the surgery as soon as Shokria can travel and provide the required amount of money. International Orphan Care Organization received $12150 from Shokria which was donated by previous donors for her treatment cost when she was planning to go to China.

Shokria is determined to pursue her further education and become a doctor to be able to contribute to vulnerable people and the community. After the surgery, she will be able to begin a new life and stand on her feet again.

Hi, I am Jawid. I'm 19 years old. I am an Afghan refugee in Italy. After the Taliban takeover, I fled to Pakistan immediately because I was not safe there anymore. My family is Hazara. We are an ethnic minority that the Taliban always attack.

I worked as human rights advocate voluntarily. And I was leading the Change Makers organization.

I survived two terrorist attacks by the Taliban in my educational courses in 2020 and 2018. Taliban killed many of my friends. And I still have nightmares every night. The Taliban killed my uncle, and my family knows this deep pain. But I needed to be vital for my siblings and their future. I did not give up.

Although I was facing many problems in Pakistan, I was trying to find a way to get out of there. I got accepted to a US university, but the Embassy rejected my visa serval times.

After months of sleepless nights and reaching out to hundreds of refugee advocates, an Italian organization agreed to grant me a humanitarian visa. I found some connections who hosted me in their home for a while in Italy.

Afghanistan is unsafe for my family because of my past activities against the Taliban and because we are Hazara ethnic minority. I feel that I still need the love of my family. Although I am in Italy, I am still super concerned about my family. Instead of looking for my future and dreams like European youth, saving my family from the Taliban has become my priority. Even in Europe, I can no longer raise my voice against the Taliban terrorist group and Afghanistan’s situation because the risk of death in my family will increase.

My underage sibling, Nooria, wants to be a doctor. Zulfa wants to be a politician. Fatima wants to be a teacher. Jamshid and & Elyas wish to be police officers. But these dreams can never come true in Afghanistan. I worked hard to convince the organization that helped me come to Italy so that we could submit a visa application to the Italian government for my family without prior funding.

We worked hard for several months on their application. Finally, two weeks ago, we were able to secure seven visa spots for my family. Still, we have a big challenge. We must collect and provide the total funds for my family’s expenses in Italy for five months. We need to raise $20,000, and the time is too short.

As a solution, we have launched a GoFundMe campaign. Your help can change the lives of the generations of my family coming. Please help me to be possible to continue my activities without any limitations or fear. Please help us to make eight dreams come true at once.

What are the chances they will be able to resettle in Europe?

The seven members of this family already have secured seven spots in Italy’s Humanitarian Corridor Program for Afghans, enabling the resettlement of vulnerable Afghan refugees at risk. We worked for many months to ensure these seven spots. The Italian organization and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are ready to process our application as soon as we have some funds.

What are the funds for?

Italy’s resettlement program requires that the family’s sponsorship agreement holder organization has total funds for at least five months of living expenses. This budget will be spent on the family's travel and stay expenses in the neighboring country for their visa application and living expenses for five months in Italy.

International Orphan Care has agreed to send the total funds raised for the Amani family to them regularly. The family will spend some of the expenses because of their travel expenses and stay in a neighboring country for their visa application until they arrive in Italy, when the rest of the funds will be distributed during the five months of resettlement in Italy for living expenses.

Donate for the Education of Mansour
Mansour and his friends Erfan and Masood contacted International Orphan Care (IOC) in 2020. They wanted to help Afghan orphans and the children of poor Afghan families. I and others who met them were impressed with their knowledge and passion for helping others less fortunate than themselves.

At the time of our first meeting, Mansour was seventeen. Erfan and Masood were older. Despite his youth, it soon became clear Mansour was the leader of the three friends. Each of the three friends is very talented and motivated. Mansour has something special, a curiosity about what technology, specifically coding and visual images, can do to help and influence people.

Mansour is a high-achieving student in his school. But most of what he knows about coding and photographic and video imagery he learned because of his initiative outside the classroom.

Each of the three friends had applied to universities in the US. They had been accepted for admission subject to having sufficient funds to pay tuition and living costs. Scholarships were offered for a portion of the costs. The three young friends and their families were expected to provide the balance.

In the Spring of 2020, COVID-19 came to Afghanistan. The government ordered almost all businesses, institutions, and schools to close. Only hospitals and medical clinics, police and security services, and food markets were allowed to remain open.

Afghans that depended on earnings from their daily labor were unemployed and had no funds to pay for food and other essentials.

The families of the three friends were not able to pay the balance of the tuition and living expenses. The COVID-19 shutdown impacted IOC and IOC operations were curtailed. IOC and a group of organizations known as Afghan COVID-19 Relief decided to shift activities to providing food to families without a source of income to purchase food. Almost all fundraising was committed to food to feed hungry families.

Mansour, Erfan and Masood decided to delay their plans to study in the US.

Mansour continued with his initiative to seek opportunities outside of the classroom. He learned that Stanford University offered an online coding class. He applied and was accepted as a Volunteer Section Leader to lead a group of students. Mansour also learned that Google offered online courses through Coursera.org.

In the Spring of 2021, we were hopeful that controlling COVID would no longer require businesses and schools to be closed. IOC expected to return to normal operations. The three friends had resubmitted their applications to universities in the US.

IOC and the Afghan COVID-19 Relief group of organizations decided to form a separate organization Afghanistan Relief Alliance. ARA would be activated to respond to disasters like pandemics, earthquakes, floods, droughts and other natural disasters.

When ARA was formed, it was not expected that the greatest disaster for the people of Afghanistan to experience would not be a natural disaster.

In the Summer of 2021, the US announced it was leaving Afghanistan. The NATO countries, other countries, UN agencies, international institutions, and international non-governmental agencies announced they were also leaving. The Taliban took control of the government. The US imposed financial sanctions on the Taliban, and impounded the financial assets of the government of Afghanistan.

The economy of Afghanistan collapsed, and the banking system was on the brink of failure. Nearly everyone became unemployed, and many of those employed have not been paid.

ARA began a fundraising campaign and has purchased food for distribution to families with the greatest need. Mansour has been helping ARA and IOC in Mazar-e Sharif and other provinces in Northern Afghanistan.

IOC prefers to help Afghans attend school and learn skills that will allow them to support themselves and their families and not become dependent on the generosity of others. We do the food distributions because the current situation is so desperate.

We want to put a significant investment into the education of Mansour because we know that in the future, Mansour will contribute to society many times over the investment we make today.

Hi, it’s Dave. Afghanistan is going through one of the worst humanitarian crisis in recent years. Sometimes it’s easy to get overwhelmed and even get paralyzed into doing nothing, but I’d like to try to make a difference in the lives of some families in Afghanistan, especially ones with children struggling with lack of food and nutrition.

The money raised in this campaign will go directly to International Orphan Care (IOC), a registered 501c3 non-profit based in California which has been doing work inside Afghanistan for many years. (Note: I will NOT be touching any of the donations, as they will go directly from GoFundMe to IOC). IOC will work together with Afghan Relief Alliance to fund new food relief projects in various cities/areas throughout Afghanistan targeting vulnerable families and children.

Under $100,000 raised will allow for at least 3 food distribution campaigns in Afghanistan, over $100,000 raised will double that to at least 6 campaigns, and over $200,000 raised will allow for monthly food distribution campaigns in Afghanistan. So, let’s get to it.

Date: Dec 19, 2021

Whereas the people in Afghanistan are facing a devastating humanitarian crisis and millions of children are lacking food, this project is to make an impact in whatever way we can.

1. Dave Lee will donate $25,000 to International Orphan Care and will also raise additional funds from his network.

2. Dave Lee is requesting International Orphan Care/Afghan Relief Alliance to use at least 80% of the funds to purchase, transport, and oversee distribution of food and critical supplies in Afghanistan in the hardest hit areas where children are struggling from lack of food and malnutrition.

3. Dave Lee is requesting that if he can raise at least $200,000 that this money be used to fund food distribution projects on a monthly basis from January 2022 to November 2022. (Note: If less than $200k but more than $100k is raised then Dave Lee requests food distribution be done in 6 intervals starting January 2022 and ending in November 2022. If less than $100k total is raised/donated, then Dave Lee requests food distribution be done in at least 3 intervals, once in January, May and October 2022.)

4. Dave Lee is requesting that International Orphan Care/Afghan Relief Alliance provide him with two reports (a mid-project report by June 15, 2022 and a final project report by Nov, 30, 2022) that includes the following: Detailed narrative of how project went, how each month’s food distribution went, what food/supplies were purchased and for how much, how the food/supplies were distributed, who received the food/supplies, and some examples of the difference the food/supplies made in the lives of some of the families.

Hello friends, this is Sapeidah Saeedi. I am from Afghanistan, currently living in the United States, and attending Mira Loma High School. In my recent visit to Afghanistan just a few weeks ago, I discovered a few things I feel compelled to tell you about. Alongside other Afghan families that immigrated from Herat, Afghanistan, to Sacramento, California, my family and I decided to create this fundraiser. If you are not aware, there are some difficulties in Afghanistan because of the recent shift of American Troops out of Afghanistan that will be completed by September 11th, which is only one month away. Afghan residents living in many different villages are coming to major cities for their safety. They are leaving their countrysides, their homes and are in desperate need of any help. People are afraid, having left their homes in fear, seeking security, and leaving their source of income behind. What is happening is out of the control of people, and we cannot turn our backs on them. My family and I were in Afghanistan just about a week ago. I remember going out to my other families’ homes; I got to experience the contentment and happiness I was longing for. Just how good it was to be with them and talk to them. My trip there inspired me to stand up for our people because no matter what I do, where I am, Herat will always be my home. I remember the busy bazaar, the food, everything else being sold there. The most important one being the Blue Mosque. It reminded me all over again of how much I love Herat. However, what we hear now is very different. Things have shifted dramatically since my family, and I left Afghanistan. I got the joy from being there with my family, but now we are all sad to see people leaving their homes in fear and moving out to the cities. In addition, when they come, they come with nothing or very little. They have no place to go to, and they do not know anyone. People are all struggling in Herat currently, and we must help them. They need our help, and even though we are so far away, we have found one way to aid them. We have set up this fund with the help of a non-profit organization - the International Orphan Care - to help those people in need with the necessities. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

A malignant tumor growing in his left eye day by day, slowly taking away his vision. He is searching for a light to see life that he is losing.

Aasim's family is unable to afford the necessary expenses for his treatment. They are worried and desperate about losing Aasim. Their worries and madness are increasing as time is running out for the necessary surgery. Will Aasim succeed in surviving? Or will his life end in darkness and blindness?

The tragedy that happened in Aasim's life is another example of cruelty and injustice in society. An innocent child facing big disasters alone, with all his life prospects and future at risk. Will society be able to help this helpless child? Or will Aasim be left alone to fade into darkness and blindness?
