Mom-Mom's Movers are at it again! We are walking to raise money to help those battling ALS. This year instead of our annual walk on the Ocean City boardwalk due to Covid restrictions, we are walking locally on Saturday, 9/19/2020.  Our family has been walking and supporting ALS efforts for just over three years now, since our wife, mother, friend and Mom-Mom, Jane, was diagnosed with ALS in May of 2017.

Joan Dancy and PALS inc. has come alongside our family and has been assisting and providing Jane with so many needs and equipment. They are truly special people and a wonderful organization that has been so caring and helpful during these very difficult years. That is why this year, Mom-Mom's Movers has decided to raise money directly for Joan Dancy and PALS inc. since they have been helping us through this. Any donation will help make an impact and goes directly to ALS patient support.

The Joan Dancy and PALS (People with ALS) Foundation was founded in 2005 after Joan lost her battle with ALS. The Foundation covers Ocean, Monmouth and Middlesex Counties in NJ and provides direct grants to those suffering from this dreadful disease. The development of a loaner program was instrumental in order to provide wheelchairs, Hoyer lifts, ramps, in-home care, speech generating and electronic communication devices.

The Joan Dancy & PALS Foundation helped my mother in so many ways and it's time to give back.

In memory of Kathleen Claire Kenny (KCK) we are having our 
2ND ANNUAL KATIE'S CRUSADERS QUALITY OF LIFE FIGHT FUND RAISER for The Joan Dancy and PALS Foundation on September 27, 2014 in South Amboy at the AOH from 6pm to 10pm.  There will be music, food, drinks, baskets to bid on, a 50/50 and good people to hang with.  A $25 donation either at the door or using this website will get you in on the fun.

Katie was diagnosed in 2008 with ALS and lived with this fatal disease until her death on September 21, 2013.  The Joan Dancy Foundation played a tremendous part in our lives during that time with their caring, time, knowledge of the disease, contacts, guidance, support group, and nothing but heart.  Without them their would not have been a quality of life for Katie and our family.  They were there at every turn in our lives.  And they continue to provide other PALS (People with ALS) with the same quality care in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

There is no cure for ALS and there is no magic pill to make it all better.  You lose your ability to be the person you once was like talking, eating, writing, the use of your hands, walking, swallowing, scratching an itch, clearing your throat, hugging, kissing, smiling, bathing, dressing yourself, brushing your teeth.  This goes on either for months or many, many years of mental torment until you can't breath anymore.

Katie was diagnosed with the fatal disease called ALS (Lou Gehrig Disease) in 2008. It has taken a vibrant, go anywhere, do anything, beautiful loving and loved person, a mother of 3 and Nana to 7 grandkids and has left her unable to speak, eat, swallow, walk without assistance, write, hold a book, shower, button a blouse, brush her teeth and breathe comfortably without the use of morphine. And that's just a snapshot of a life living with ALS.
When this hits you need help, assistance, counseling, support, a place to call day or night, people to turn to who have gone and are going through this.
Those people are the Joan Dancy and PALS Foundation. Their mission is to support PALS (People with ALS), their families and care
givers. Their support group meetings are PRICELESS. They give me strength, they are our lifeline.

Needed a dentist to come to the house for Katie - got it
