I am asking you to join me in making a difference in the lives of our local youth. I'm raising money to benefit The Martinsburg Rock School Inc; any donation will help make an impact. The Martinsburg Rock School is dedicated to helping our community by using music as a platform to teach leadership skills, self-worth, and the value of teamwork. Our programs are founded on the belief that focusing on these areas translates to real-life skills and ensures success. Here at the Martinsburg Rock School, we believe music is an art governed by the soul and can change lives and communities. There’s something universal about the creative arts that’s good for health, and mental health in particular. Visual arts, drama, literature, and music, despite their differences, all have some things in common – they make us feel, provide meaning, stimulate reflection, and bring us together. Music is the best studied of art therapy, and helps to lower anxiety, depression, trauma, psychosis and stress. Important components of music therapy are the meaning of lyrics, improvisational music playing, active listening, and songwriting.

The Martinsburg Rock School is a registered 501(3)c nonprofit after school music education school located in Martinsburg, WV. We offer programs for folks of all ages to learn what is gradually being taken out of schools, in a safe, judgement and drug free environment. We are able to provide people of all ages with opportunities to learn or hone their existing skills on a variety of different instruments, camp opportunities during the summer months, and opportunities to join bands with people their own age and skill, performing a couple of times a month throughout the community and further. We also offer scholarship opportunities for those who may not be able to afford. However due to circumstances beyond our board's control, we have lost most of our funding and scholarships. While our skilled instructors continue to teach our existing scholarship students who have been with us for years pro bono, we aren't able at this time to offer further scholarships for new students. This Go Fund Me account could greatly help our chances to improve our school, better instruments and equipment for the students and band directors/teachers, and provide for more scholarship students to be enrolled. Help us to be able to sponsor underprivileged students of all ages and improve our school to continue to spread happiness and drug awareness through music for many years to come!
