For anyone interested in offering support to our Hawaiian ‘ohana this holiday season, all proceeds directly support The Maui Food Bank. Every $1 donated can provide 4 meals for those in need in Maui County and surrounding areas struggling with recovery efforts from last summer’s wildfires.

I've noticed that we often get really interested and excited about something until the next news cycle hits and we quickly move on. In some cases this is fine. In the case where our fellow Americans are losing their homes, starving, displaced and facing tragedy, I think that deserves a little bit more attention. On August 8th and 9th 2023 the town of Lahaina, Hawaii faced major destruction at the hands of a wildfire. This took over 100 lives, decimated 2,170 acres, 2200 buildings, and many historical landmarks. This left over 7,000 people looking for shelter. There are various organizations giving aid to these victims, but Mixtape has chosen to assist Mauifoodbank.org in its efforts to feed all these displaced Americans. Every dollar donated creates four meals!

Mixtape is playing a show at the Monastery in Mesa on June 22nd from 8pm to 12. The show has a tropical theme complete with tropical drink specials, and all in attendance wearing their fun tropical outfits. We will be taking donations prior to and at this event via GoFundMe Mixtape and fans donate to Lahaina.

We have not set a monetary goal for this event, because.. how much human aide is enough?

More information about Maui Food Bank: The Maui Food Bank is Maui County’s primary safety net for hunger relief. The Food Bank provides safe and nutritious food to anyone in Maui County who is at risk of going hungry. Of those served, 40% are children and youth. Working with more than 100 distribution partners and programs, the Food Bank distributes safe and nutritious food to individuals, families, kids, the working poor, seniors on fixed incomes, the homeless and anyone who is at risk of going hungry.

Currently 1800 families in Lahaina, Hawaii are without a home because of the recent fires and they need FOOD NOW ! This is how you can immediately help.

Hey Lunatics, Maui Needs Our Help

Most of us have been to Maui and know its beauty. Due to the recent wildfire storms, this town has been decimated. We are hoping to raise a minimum of $5000 to help the friends and families that have been rocked by these recent terrible events. These fires as you may know have destroyed a historic town, Lahaina. Both our daughters went to school in Lahaina, and many of their friends have lost everything. Their Mother and Step Father have also lost their business just like many others in this beautiful town. Please help however you can. All these proceeds from this go fund me page will go directly to the Maui Food Bank and Café Luna will add 25% of our daily sales from Thursday, August 17th to the same cause. I have been living and working in Ka’anapali for a while now and have been immersed into the community of the west side. I am trying to help those who were less fortunate than I was. My car was parked in Lahaina by the aquatic center and thought it was gone. Fortunately it was not and I was able to recover it. However, many were less fortunate and I am trying to do my part in giving back. People of the west side community of Lahaina have been greatly affected by the fires. Thousands of homes destroyed and families dispersed. Help the Lahaina community recover by donating to the food bank so that supplies can continue to be sent to Lahaina and people have access to clean water and food. Recently the water has been declared too toxic to drink. There is still no power on this side and will not be for the next 10-30 days. Please anything helps. Aloha.

I took a trip to Maui this December because it was the only way to see loved ones who live there, but the Kingdom of Hawai'i also needs support due to the way it's been treated, especially the indigenous people. I was pointed to the Maui food bank as a way to make a difference. My birthday present to myself every year is a charitable gift, and I'd love to give back to the place I visited.
