Music unites us all and inspires our students to be the best they can be! Mount Si’s Instrumental Music programs create a supportive and positive community that keeps students engaged in school and contributes to improved academic performance in other subjects.
Your Mount Si Band & Orchestra Boosters parents are asking your help to provide amazing Band and Orchestra experiences by donating today! Your donation to our 501(c)(3) nonprofit is tax deductible. Our student musicians stay busy with afterschool rehearsals, concerts, festivals and serving our school at sports events and assemblies, so asking them to sell candy or other goods isn’t the most efficient way to raise funds. Please share this campaign with family far and near, friends, neighbors and others who want to be part of your student’s success!
Every dollar donated is appreciated and counts!

Professional Musician Section Coaches Teach Students
We are fortunate to have some of the Seattle area’s best musicians and teachers visit our classes 1-2 times per month to coach each individual woodwind, brass, percussion, and string section. We also support our instructor for Jazz 3 band, Danny Kolke. Our roster of clinicians includes private teachers, college professors, and several members of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. Along with nationally-renowned musicians, they lead workshops, retreats, and clinics through the school year. As this is above and beyond the school’s budget capabilities, the Boosters financially support these incredibly beneficial programs for our students.
Budget for Professional Coaches & Instructors for January through May 2023 - $22,000.
Boston Brass – Artists-in-Residence at Mount Si HS February 2023
The world-renowned Boston Brass ensemble will be in residence at Mount Si HS February 7-9, 2023! During their visit, the incredible musicians of this ensemble will be doing an open rehearsal for our students, performing a daytime concert for our 6th/7th grade instrumental music students, as well as our high school instrumental music students, performing with our 8th grade instrumental music students and High School Wind Ensemble (and performing a brand new piece of music commissioned specifically for the Boston Brass and our ensemble), as well as leading a clinic with our musicians at the high school.
The open rehearsal will allow students to get a glimpse into the lives of high-level performing musicians as they prepare the newly commissioned piece, as well as other brass quintet pieces to be performed throughout the week. Student exposure to this level of rehearsal preparation gives them a view into the professional musicians' world as they prepare for performances. Techniques and approaches used in learning music develop focus and listening skills that students can use in all areas of their academic life. Boston Brass will conduct a clinic that will allow our students to learn rehearsal techniques these musicians use themselves, and teach to other amateurs and professionals around the world for higher level performance. The commissioned work by Gordon Goodwin "Perplexing Times" was written specifically for the Boston Brass for a Premier during this academic year. Gordon Goodwin is a Grammy Award-winning performer and composer, and Mount Si High School was selected as a member of the consortium to perform the work in its Premier year.
Budget for Boston Brass Artists in Residence Program - $14,000
Working directly with professional musicians and watching them rehearse and perform enriches our students’ education - in music and other subjects. That maximizes student engagement and fuels greater effort which results in very high-level performances. With your support we can continue to provide these extraordinary opportunities for our student musicians!
Our fundraising target is $36,000 to provide professional-level coaching, instruction, workshops and clinics. Every donation is deeply valued and makes a difference in a student’s life. Share this with your family and friends. Employer Match contributions can multiply your gift if you work for a Matching company. (We can provide documentation required for employer matches.) Your donation is tax-deductible (as allowed by the IRS) so please give generously if you can.
Thanks to each of you for your support of our amazing Instrumental Music program at Mount Si.
Without parents, families and friends supporting our students, their achievements would not be possible.
