NPHY needs your help funding our 2015 “NPHY Family Trip!” It’s SUMMER time! With school out and warm weather
blazing over Southern Nevada, many of us are making plans to enjoy the pools, take trips to the beach, and embark on
family vacations. But as many of you know, here in Southern Nevada there are
thousands of teeangers who are not able to enjoy the fun of summer vacation because they are worried about where to find their next meal or a place to sleep.
Youth homelessness is a
serious problem here in our community and NPHY is taking the necessary steps each day to combat this issue.
NPHY is Southern Nevada’s most comprehensive service provider for youth experiencing homelessness. Our
programs offer a full range of services including outreach, mobile crisis intervention, emergency shelter, education, employment assistance, family reunification, counseling, life skills training, transitional housing, and
wraparound support. Our most intensive program for
youth who have nowhere else to turn is our full-time Independent Living Program (ILP). Our ILP program is a transitional housing program for unaccompanied
homeless youth that provides them with housing and other comprehensive services in a safe,
supportive, and independent environment that promotes self-sufficiency.
When not attending
school or work, these ILP clients spend much of their time together or interacting with NPHY staff, who act as
role models, mentors, and provide guidance and support. As the majority of our clients are disconnected from their families, we strive to create a
“family-environment” for all of the youth we serve and oftentimes, NPHY becomes the only calm, happy, and
positive place they know.
That’s where we need
YOUR help! The time has come for NPHY to plan its annual "NPHY Family Trip" with our ILP clients. We plan trips like these with intentions to
create memories, have
fun, and strengthen the
bonds between clients, staff, and community. Many times, clients will
experience something they never have before, such as seeing and swimming in the
ocean, camping out in the
mountains, taking a
road trip, or riding a
rollercoaster for the first time. These trips become something our clients will
remember forever and we need
your help making this year’s experience possible.
This year, we will be taking a one-day-trip to
Knott's Berry Farm Theme Park in Buena Park, California! This trip will not only be a blast for our clients, but this is a trip that many of our clients have never taken and would not be able to take otherwise. Our goal is to raise at least
$3,500 that will cover the cost of transportation, food, and admission tickets for our
ILP clients and chaperones. Please help us give our clients the memorable trip they deserve!
