Marathon Fundraiser for Newton Schools Foundation
For the past decade, I have watched friends, teachers, and mentors make their way up Comm Ave on Marathon Monday. During my sophomore year at Newton South High School, when in-person activities finally resumed, joining Dreamfar marathon club reinforced my love for distance running; it gave me hope for what was possible.

This year, I am excited to join the thousands of runners who not only endure 26.2 miles but also champion a charitable cause while they’re at it. I am grateful to run on behalf of Newton Schools Foundation. Throughout the 12 years I've spent in Newton, they have supported my teachers and provided me with countless new educational opportunities through their generous grants. Last year, they were able to give $260,000 to Newton Public Schools, spearheading equitable initiatives like the Calculus Project, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

The Boston Marathon is special for its sense of community and collective generosity, and I hope that you will join my effort to give back this year. Every donation, no matter the size, will go towards improving education for my peers. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you en route to Boston!

Running Marathon in support of Newton Schools
My name is Noah Dooley, and I’m a Needham High School senior. I’ve been involved in marathon training with Dreamfar High School Marathon since my freshman year, completing my first full marathon this past May in Providence, Rhode Island. I’m excited to have the opportunity to run the upcoming Boston Marathon, a race I’ve followed for years, on behalf of the Newton Schools Foundation. Dreamfar was founded at Newton South High School, and I’ve been running with Newton-based mentors every Saturday morning since I first started training so I’m grateful to be able to represent the community! As well as running, I enjoy playing and watching soccer, participating in extracurricular activities, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family.

Kerri Runs Boston for NSF!

My name is Kerri Bisaga and I am a special education teacher and reading specialist at Newton South High School, and I am so excited to be running Boston for Newton Schools Foundation!

I grew up in the area, and was always enamored with all of the strong female runners I saw out and about, training and racing. As early as elementary school, I decided that I wanted to be a woman who runs! I struggled with some tough health issues following high school, and started running as a way to build back my strength and reconnect with my body. Later, I really came into my own as a runner when I became a special educator. My pre-and-post work jogs always gave me a boost of creativity and calm that came in handy as I supported students with a wide variety of interests, abilities, and needs. I've been lucky enough to share my love of running with my students through the Dreamfar High School Marathon program at South, which has me supporting students as they pursue the big goal of running a marathon.

I truly found my home as an educator when I came to Newton South six years ago. Newton Public Schools has supported me as I try out new strategies, create new resources, and further my own professional development. Newton's dedication to developing their teachers is what sets it apart, and NSF is a huge part of that!

I'm thrilled to be running the Boston Marathon (again!) for the Newton School's Foundation!

Newton Schools Foundation advances excellence and equity in our schools by funding promising initiatives, professional development, and programs that close gaps in achievement and opportunity. My own students and fellow teachers have benefitted directly from the grants offered by NSF. My colleagues and I learned from summer professional development on anti-racism, and my Shakespeare students had the chance to meet a famous actor and playwright. Several of my students received funding from NSF to travel with me to Argentina as part of a learn abroad program. I'm grateful to Newton Schools Foundation for their efforts!

After finally qualifying for the marathon--a lifelong goal--and fundraising for NSF, I lost the opportunity to run the in-person race last year because it was cancelled for the first time ever due to the pandemic. I was able to run the virtual race in 2020 with my running partner, and now this fall, I will be able to finally run the in-person race for the first time. I hope you will help me reach my goal of $5000 to support a cause near and dear to my heart.
