I’m heading to ECUADOR for my 5th surgical mission with Operation Internation-Team Chicago!! Nothing brings me more joy (than my family, duh) to help those in need. Not only do we provide the necessary surgical treatment most of these patients wouldn’t have access to, we also teach and assist the local community in basic surgical skills. I’m asking for more donations this year as it is the initial OI trip to Ecuador and we will need to bring much more supplies than any of our other trips. The risks are high, but the reward is even higher. Please, help me help others.

Hi! My name is Emily. I am a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) volunteering with Operation International (OI). This March, I’ll be joining Operation International Team New York on a mission to Laos, where we will provide maxillofacial, general, thoracic, and gynecological surgeries to underserved communities. This marks the largest project ever undertaken by a foreign NGO in the region, in collaboration with Champasak Provincial Hospital.

Having previously volunteered on a medical mission to Ghana, I’ve seen firsthand the impact that surgical outreach has on communities with limited access to care. OI’s work breaks down healthcare barriers by providing free surgical care and medical education in underserved areas, and I’m honored to be part of this effort.

Hi everyone, this will be the fourth year I am raising money for Operation International Team Chicago! This upcoming May, we will be traveling to a new OI site in Ecuador to help perform surgical care.

Operation International is a not for profit organization created to provide free medical care to individuals in underserved countries. The organization main focus is providing long lasting changes by educating the local healthcare providers and donating equipment needed to sustain better medical practice.

The first year we traveled to Uganda & performed 84 surgeries over one week. Year two, we performed 112 surgeries in Ghana. Year 3, we returned to Ghana where we performed 219 procedures. Year 4, we headed to a new OI site in Tanzania and performed many surgeries!! We are hoping to continue to help as many people as we can!! Surgical cases varied from goiters to hernia repairs to burns contracture releases, and the lives of these individuals were drastically changed. We also visit an orphanage sponsored by Operation International and deliver clothing, toys, and food.

We now plan to travel to a new OI location in Ecuador in May of 2025. We will have to bring all of our own surgical supplies with. For this reason, we are trying to raise >$50,000 to set up a fully functional surgical center to staff four operating rooms for the week.

Any amount you can provide is greatly appreciated, both by me, the rest of the OI-Chicago team, and the people of Ecuador, and 100% of the funds we raise go directly to the mission. Hello all! As I'm finishing up my final year in Anesthesiology training, I've been offered the incredible opportunity to provide anesthesia care abroad as a part of a surgical mission trip to Ecuador in May of 2025.

My name is Carol Hess and I've been a Certified Surgical Technologist for over 7 years. I recently accepted a spot on the Operation Restore Vision team, which is part of Operation International. Operation Restore Vision has performed free sight restorative surgeries since 2009 in some of the most impoverished areas of the world. They aim to make surgery accessible to those suffering blindness without care options.

In February 2025, Operation Restore Vision will be heading to the western region of Kenya, which is called Kakamega. The objective of this mission trip is to perform 200 vision-restoring surgeries. With this in mind, my personal goal is to raise $2,500 for my expenses towards the mission, which includes flights, hotels, and food. Thank you, and I hope you consider donating!

I'm raising money to benefit Operation International LTD, especially Team Restore Vision. This is for an ophthalmology mission to Kenya which will be my third trip to Africa as a circulating nurse in cataract surgeries to help the ones in need of surgical intervention to restore the sight.

Last year we performed 338 surgeries in Techiman, Ghana and restored sight to teens and adults of all ages. It was one of the most gratifying moments of my nursing career and at this point it is safe to say, quite addicting! This year we would like to continue the mission and help restore vision to the people in need in Kenya.

Last time our team traveled to Ghana and performed over 350 vision restoring cataract surgeries! Cataract is the leading cause of avoidable blindness and vision loss in the world! This coming January, I will be joining Operation International on a mission trip to Kenya to provide sight restorative surgery. Operation International is a secular, non-political, humanitarian organization that offers free medical care to children and adults suffering from the lack of basic health care in poor countries. In our quest to advance human rights ideas, Operation International provides free medical care to people in need — regardless of gender, cultural, ethnic, political, or religious affiliations.

Hello All! I have graciously been given another opportunity to travel with Operation International’s Team Restore Vision.
