Please help Edward on his road to recovery from horrific animal abuse. My name is Jess Zorge and I am the Founder/President of Raptor Tales Rescue a veteran run all volunteer 501 c 3 non profit. The rescue is located in Shrewsbury Massachusetts. On the evening of Jan 23 rd, I received an adult male hawk from Paxton, MA. I quickly realized both of his wings and his tail had been sheared off leaving him flightless and unable to defend himself. This was 100% intentional based on the number of feathers cut and how clean it appears. We do not know why someone would abuse a wild animal this way but we know he will be getting the best care possible on his road to recovery. Feather trauma this severe can take up to two years as we wait for his feathers to molt and replace. There is no guarantee Edward will ever fly again. His feathers that were sheared feathers and tail need to be present in order to fly, perch and balance. His cost as a patient will be enormous for that length of time and we are looking for support. It costs us hundreds of dollars a month already to feed our current patients and we could really use your help with this new addition. The outpouring of support for Edward has been heart warming. My name is Jess Zorge and I am the founder of Raptor Tales Rescue, a 501 c 3 nonprofit located in Shrewsbury, MA. I specialize in the rescue and rehabilitation of hawks, owls, eagles, falcons and other raptors. I have assisted many other animals outside my expertise as well. The entire rescue is run out of my home and strictly on a volunteer basis. I receive no compensation for my time and run solely on donations and many times burden out of pocket costs. For 15 years, I have been volunteering my time with wildlife (licensed 13 years ago and then founded Raptor Tales in 2020). 12 of which I have transported thousands of animals, including Bald eagles, Coyotes, Fox, Bats, Raccoons, Turtles, and so much more! I have assisted 345 raptors since 2020 and the calls for help continue to pour in daily. I have one vehicle - 2013 Ford Escape, with 170k miles. It has been very good to me. Sadly, the Escape is rapidly declining, and the costs of repairs outweigh its market value. I know this is a big ask but we are looking for help with proceeds towards a replacement vehicle to assist us in rescuing injured wild animals, as we take frequent trips all over the state (and sometimes other states). Much of my free time is spent rescuing animals in need and traveling to and from patients far and wide. Operations will unfortunately need to be limited during this quest but hope to find a suitable vehicle quickly. We are still accepting animals but not able to travel much further than locally due to limitations to our vehicle. Ideally, we are looking to obtain something with low mileage, decent on gas, with a hatch back (to house several medium crates and personal rescue equipment). Your contributions towards this would aid me to not only travel safely but tend to patients without worrying about being stranded before, during or after emergencies.

Our Spring Baby Shower Fundraiser is here and unfortunately we are off to a slower than usual start and need your help! Our goal this baby season is to raise $3000 over the next month to help incoming babies in need. We rely on two large fundraisers per year and this is one of them so please help if you can and share! Donations are tax deductible and offset the costs associated with caring for injured/orphaned raptors, (diets, husbandry, medical, enrichment, enclosure maintenance). Food is our highest expense as orphans require more calories and constant care versus adults. Our wildlife rehab is performed on a 100% volunteer basis. We do not get compensated for this service and incur many out of pocket expenses that we are trying to decrease. We want to accept as many orphans as possible but can only do so with your help.
