NEEDED TO SAVE COOKIE THE TINY VIZSLA PUPPY

Santa Barbara Vizsla Lovers Rescue saved a Vizsla pair this summer and were surprised when female Josie gave birth to 7 purebred puppies. One beautiful and feisty puppy, Cookie, has developed lameness and balance issues which prevented her adoption and the problem has suddenly grown worse. She has had a consult with a respected veterinary neurologist and tested negative for neosporosis, but Cookie needs an immediate MRI and Spinal Tap to diagnose what is wrong. We need your urgent help once again dear SBVLR supporters, to cover the cost for these procedures and get the help tiny Cookie needs so she can live a full and loved life just like her littermates now enjoy. Veterinary Medical and Surgical Group is giving Cookie excellent care along with a generous rescue discount, but costs are daunting so PLEASE JOIN TEAM COOKIE, combining love and funds as we have done for so many Vizslas you have helped us treat and save over the years. SBVLR is a 501C3 non-profit so all donations are tax-deductible. Any excess funds will be added to The Ziggy Memorial Medical Fund to help other Vizslas. 100% of our funds go to the dogs!

Be Cookie’s Valentine
WILL YOU BE SUGAR COOKIE’S VALENTINE? This year, for Santa Barbara Vizsla Lovers Rescue’s ZIGGY MEMORIAL VALENTINE FUNDRAISER, we are honoring our disabled puppy COOKIE who is valiantly fighting the effects of Discospondylitis from a mysterious infection contracted at five weeks.

Cookie is one of the seven puppies born to a Vizsla pair we rescued last summer. SBVLR has provided Cookie with the best care with diagnostic scans, a veterinary neurologist directing us on medication and upcoming specialized physical therapy. The wonderful news is that Cookie is thriving and improving every day! We never gave up and our TOUGH COOKIE has amazed the neurologist with her progress; COOKIE MONSTER’S joyful and feisty personality thrills us all. Daily, SMART COOKIE is figuring out how to climb stairs, ford steams, win a toy tussle. She is still on a medication protocol of three antibiotics, an anti-inflammatory, and as-needed pain relief which has helped her turn the corner from not walking at all and having to ride in a wagon, to now playing, running, even hiking!

In March, she has an evaluation with Atlas, a respected physical therapy practice. Your kind donations, COOKIE DOUGH, for ongoing medical and care needs have saved her life and will now fund her recovery to live a full and loved life just like her littermates. SBVLR is a 501C3 non-profit, so all donations are tax deductible; excess funds go to the Ziggy Memorial Medical Fund to help other Vizsla’s in need. Save Holly for the Holly Days
URGENT UPDATE: PLEASE DONATE THE GIFT OF LIFE FOR THE “HOLLY DAYS.”

Sweet 10 yr old Vizsla Holly, who lived the last four years of her life outside 24/7 was surrendered just 3 weeks ago to Santa Barbara Vizsla Lovers Rescue. Now with her loving foster, she enjoys warmth by the fire, 3 good meals a day (to put some weight on), runs her new green yard, even visits the barn to see her new horse friend Rush.

Many of you have sent good wishes to Holly and offered her foster care or adoption. While updating her health care, unexpectedly a tumor has been discovered on Holly’s spleen. Without immediate surgery, she is in danger of sudden painful death. We scrambled to find quick, competent surgery (wait lists are so long). Wonderful foster Pam and SBVLR have miraculously been able to arrange for a skilled surgeon to remove Holly’s tumor/spleen Monday, December 13 before she has a tragic end she does not deserve. The surgeon expects the procedure to be routine, recovery swift, biopsy results come after we save Holly’s life. Holly came originally from a loving home but suffered being outside and alone much of the time this past year plus her chronic ear condition was painful without timely treatment. Through it all she retained her youthful and sweet personality…Pam says she is just “SUCH A GOOD GIRL, like a 4 yr old in a sugar suit.”

We did not expect this sudden expense when we took her in, but we are committed to humane and loving treatment so Holly does not come to a bad end. You have been our fan club in the past for Ziggy, Trooper, Ranger and many more Vizslas needing medical and behavioral help. Surgery is approx. $4900 with rescue discounts which will completely deplete our Ziggy Memorial Medical Fund.

Isn’t it strange a Vizsla named Holly would need your help at the holidays…PLEASE, PLEASE GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE FOR OUR SWEET GIRL’S “HOLLY DAYS” AHEAD.

Will you be Holly’s Valentine?
WILL YOU BE HOLLY’S VALENTINE?

The “Holly Fan Club” saved the life of this sweet 10 year old Vizsla who was languishing for years in a back yard 24/7 through heat , cold, and solitude. SBVLR placed her with amazing foster Pam and now Holly runs fields, visits her new horse friend, and cuddles by a warm fire at night. You were all so generous when a tumor was found on Holly’s spleen needing immediate surgery to save her life…we all celebrated when Holly’s tumor was BENIGN!

Now we need a bit more help to make Holly’s life complete: untreated ear infections over many years have led to chronic otitis externa in both ears. Treatments have been administered but are not working and Holly has constant pain and itching. Holly’s wonderful vet has said she will need an ear canal ablation to clean out the infection and open the ear canals. This year, we have designated Holly as our Ziggy Memorial Medical Fund Valentine recipient so we can get her ears properly evaluated by a specialist and provide relief she so deserves.

Help Windy!
PLEASE HELP US GET 7 YR OLD WINDY THE MEDICAL CARE SHE NEEDS! Santa Barbara Vizsla Lovers Rescue has sprung Windy the Vizsla from a desert kill shelter where she was abandoned by her owners along with her 2 year old daughter Fog. Both had evidence of multiple litters. Then they separated the two, adopting the younger female separately (who was also supposed to come to rescue) and SBVLR was only able to get Windy to safety in the home of our wonderful foster where she is so happy and thriving to be in a loving home with two Vizsla friends. Sadly, we discovered that Windy has an untreated mammary tumor which has a 50% chance of being cancerous. Windy was not spayed at the shelter and the two surgeries can be done together but the tumor removal increases the cost. Kind supporters, you know SBVLR has helped so many former Vizsla’ with medical and rehoming needs: we need your help once again before scheduled surgery July 25 to get Windy the medical care she did not receive in the past. Once she has recovered, we look forward to finding delightful, playful and sweet Windy a happy and loving home for the rest of her “young-at-heart” life. Be Ziggy's Valentine?
Are you already a member of the Ziggy Fan Club? Would you like to join and be Ziggy's Valentine?

Ziggy is our 3 year old SWEETHEART of a Vizsla, who is loving to all adults, children, dogs andnow being fostered by a wonderful young military family and their Vizsla Brady, same age as Ziggy. Love bug Ziggy suffers from particularly severe Epilepsy, but don't tell him that - he's now too busy having fun with his new foster family. His original family could not cope with his cluster seizuresand his heart was broken many times speed dating fosters who did not realize the commitment, with Ziggy crying bitterly when he had to said goodbye. Combine that with the violent cluster seizures he experienced, and we had a pretty sad boy in our hands. Now under the care of a skilled veterinarian and respected neurologist, thanks to Santa Barbara Vizsla Lovers Rescue, he is THRIVING in his loving foster home and his epilepsy has finally improved with the addition of a fourth anti-seizure medication to his arsenal. Unfortunately, the cost of these medications has climbed to $4800 a year making it impossible for his loving family to adopt Ziggy, and for us to support him without your LOVING help. How much is his recently found happiness, his life, worth? We are committed, are you? Will you help us play CUPID for Ziggy so he can remain with this amazing young foster family? TRUE LOVE comes in many forms, and giving is the most pure.
