Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation Inc

My name is Kaden Zinkle and I am 14 years old. Last year on August 24, I took on the challenge of playing 100 holes of golf in 1 day. I played 111. I was pleased with how I did myself, but I wish I would have had more teammates join me in playing.

I had a set goal that I wanted to raise $5000. I ended up just $55 short of that. This year I am setting 2 goals. First, I want to double the donations from last year and raise over $10,000. Secondly, I want this year to be less about the holes that I play, and more about the total holes played by me and my teammates. My goal is to have a total of 1000 holes played.

This year, I will be holding the event on August 23 at Lake Windsor Country Club. I am very happy to be benefiting the Steve Stricker American Family Foundation once again. They help fund organizations in south-central Wisconsin that help kids achieve their goals and have the best life possible. It is also cool to make this a connection to golf and Steve Stricker, a Madison native. Steve is a good person and I am honored to be helping his foundation.

My name is Kaden Zinkle.  I am 13 years old and I love to golf!  One day I told a friend it would be fun to see how many holes of golf we could play in one day.  Then I thought it would be neat to see if we could raise some money for a charity while doing it.  This is how the “Driving for Dollars” day started.  

The event will be held on Monday, August 24th at Lake Windsor Country Club.  It will start at 7:00 a.m. and end at sundown.  My teammates and I will play golf all day finishing as many holes each as we can throughout the day.  

I did some thinking about what charity I would like to support.  I decided the Steve Stricker Foundation was a good one this year.  There are a few reasons for this.  First, the AmFam tournament was cancelled for this year, which resulted in millions of dollars lost to the Foundation.   Second, I like that it ties into golf.  Third, the Steve Stricker Foundation supports groups in and around Dane County, including Deforest.  You can see the full list of groups that have received grants in the past years here  https://www.amfam.com/sponsorships/amfamchampionship/foundation.   If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will see a link to “Grant Recipients.”   It is a great foundation and the money stays local.
