This fundraiser by the Eisen, Peters, and Walsh families is in honor of Belinda Ann Eisen Walsh, and the values and generosity she conveyed throughout her life. All donations will go toward the Capital Campaign and funds needed to open Taste Community Restaurant in Arlington.

Taste offers beautiful, nutritious food to all, regardless of the means. Guests pay what they can, what they would typically pay, or a little extra to help a neighbor. This pay it forward concept celebrates a community that is inclusive and welcoming, values that were important to Belinda. In addition to the restaurant, Taste also provides a community garden and no tuition culinary training opportunities.

Donations received by Saturday, August 31st will be matched dollar-for-dollar for double the impact.

Arlington was Belinda's community. She was active in the community, in her church, and volunteered regularly at Mission Arlington down the street from the future Taste location. When she passed from cancer in 2020, she asked to be cremated. Covid didn't provide the best opportunity for us to celebrate her memory. This fundraiser will provide a place for family and friends to honor her memory, celebrate her life and values, and serve the community in a way that she did throughout her life.

In Tarrant County and its surrounding areas, nearly half a million individuals grapple with food insecurity. Amidst these challenges, Taste Community Restaurant stands ready to address this crisis with the support of dedicated volunteers, striving to address hunger sustainably in our neighborhood. This community initiative helps hardworking families and also highlights the resilience of a community, where families often sacrifice their own nourishment to ensure their children are fed.

As entrepreneurship students at the University of North Texas, we've launched this campaign on behalf of Taste Community Restaurant with a firm belief in the transformative power of taste to create positive change. By taking proactive steps to tackle hunger and removing financial barriers, we're paving the way for a brighter future for our community.

Our goal is simple: to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. Taste's innovative easy pay system empowers individuals to contribute what they can, preserving their dignity in the process. But we understand that we can't do it alone. With your generous support, we can expand our impact and reach even more people in need. Every donation, no matter how big or small, contributes to our collective efforts.

The Taste Community Restaurant is a beacon of hope, feeding over 1000 people per week and having served over 150,000 individuals since its inception in 2017. Their impact resonates deeply, providing sustainable, healthy meals to thousands of families who otherwise might go without. Through this campaign, our aim is to provide at least 50 meals to families in the Tarrant County area, furthering our fight against hunger in the DFW region.

We are raising money to feed 1,000 people in Fort Worth and every dollar you donate goes directly to a meal for a neighbor in need!

Taste Community Restaurant (a 501(c)3 non-profit) is a volunteer-staffed, donation-based restaurant focused on feeding our community. This is the sustainable solution to ensure none of our neighbors go hungry. Nearly 500,000 people in Tarrant and the surrounding counties face hunger. Many hard-working families are challenged to put food on the table and often parents skip meals to make sure their children get something to eat.

At Taste, the menu does not have prices but instead uses a unique “pay what you can” system. Sometimes 25 cents is all someone can afford to pay, or a few dollars for a family of 4. Through donations like yours, Taste is able to provide delicious (and nutritious) meals to neighbors in need in a welcoming atmosphere.

Taste has fed over 150,000 people since its opening in 2017 and sometimes feeds over 1,000 people in a week. I’ve been volunteering at Taste for over 2 years and can attest to the powerful impact they are having on our community.
