On September 17, Mary Beth Green was killed in a tragic accident. Mary Beth was an extraordinary human whose love and care for others left an indelible mark on all who knew her. You can read more about her incredible life and legacy here.
As those of us who love Mary Beth have come together to grieve and remember her these past few weeks, a common refrain has been: "how did she do so much for so many people?" She truly lived a life of service--to her family, her Back on My Feet teammates, her work colleagues, and to individuals experiencing homelessness.
One of the biggest beneficiaries of her huge heart was The Baltimore Station, where for the past seven years, Mary Beth has been a familiar and beloved presence. She was a Team Captain of the Station's triweekly morning run/walk program, where she consistently provided cheer and motivation in the early morning hours. Because of her, many of the residents--veterans who are overcoming obstacles in order to regain self-sufficiency, achieved goals they might have previously thought impossible. She also frequently made and served home-cooked meals at the Station. The monthly dinners she coordinated were a favorite amongst volunteers and residents alike. Everyone loved her cooking, but above all, the men there most remember the kindness, positivity, and encouragement she radiated every time she was in their building.
Feeding others was a true passion for Mary Beth, and we can't think of a better way to honor her than to raise money for the kitchen at the Station, so that they can continue to honor her legacy by feeding others in need. We have set a goal of $10,000, which would not only provide meals for the residents, but would also allow the staff to make much-needed upgrades to the kitchen equipment. At the end of this campaign, the Station will be naming its kitchen after Mary Beth, as a permanent tribute to the incredible legacy of care and service to others that she leaves behind.
Anything you can contribute is so greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for helping us to honor Mary Beth and support the amazing work of The Baltimore Station.
With gratitude,
Kate & Jenn
