Brooklyn GHOST Project is a nonprofit organization that has supported transgender and non-binary people of color in New York City for over 7 years. Through weekly community groups and annual community events, they provide education and advocacy, free meals and clothing, funding opportunities, medical and mental health support, and name change support.
Unfortunately, as we fight for equality and justice to uplift and support our Black and Brown transgender & diverse expansive identity communities, the larger community organization where Brooklyn GHOST Project does most of their work is no longer willing to support their initiatives and the community they serve. This decision has come with less than a month's notice, and we need to find a low-cost space to continue running our two weekly groups and the lifesaving work we do.
Our GoFundMe campaign aims to raise $50,000 to secure our own home office space and acquire essential resources to cover utilities. The funds will be used for the following purposes:
1. Office Space Rental: Securing a new office space that is safe, accessible, and conducive to our organization's operations.
2. Office Supplies and Equipment: Purchasing necessary office supplies, furniture, and technology equipment to support our day-to-day activities.
3. Resource Development: Investing in resources and materials to further our advocacy work, educational programs, and community outreach initiatives.
4. Staff Support: Providing stipends for our dedicated staff members and volunteers who work tirelessly to support our community.
Your support for our GoFundMe campaign will make a meaningful difference in the lives of Black and Brown transgender and nonbinary individuals and the organizations that serve them. By contributing to this cause, you are helping to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
We thank you for your generosity and commitment to supporting marginalized communities. Together, we can make a positive impact and uplift those who need it most.
