The Disability Action Center

Due to repetitive flooding from June 10-14, 2021, the Disability Action Center incurred extensive damage to the interior and exterior of the facility; loss of equipment and building contents; loss of program and facility rental income; and costs to clean, sanitize, and temporarily secure the exterior of the facility. These damages (not including loss of potential funding while remaining in the current facility) total approximately $150-200,000. The cost of relocation to a comparable 11,000+ square foot facility will be $600,000 at minimum for a total estimated need of $750,000.

The Disability Action Center (DAC) is a non-profit agency which has been serving children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in North Central West Virginia since 1958. The DAC’s educational and enrichment programs are designed to empower individuals with disabilities and their families to become the best they can be physically, socially, emotionally, educationally, and financially. All DAC programs aim to improve the overall well-being of participants by ensuring each member is engaged, included, and accepted in every area of life and to provide an environment where individuals can continue to learn and be productive members of the community.
