Hope House Ministries provides compassionate, comprehensive and competent care for the poor, the marginal and the wounded among us. This commitment is woven in the gospel vision that all life is sacred and every human person is unique and has the right to be respected and protected.

Through eleven unique programs, Hope House Ministries offers hope, care and compassion to nearly 2,000 individuals in need each month. 

Specifically, we are committed to young people and families in crisis, pregnant women, mothers and babies in crisis, and all other wounded people within our society seen as abandoned and neglected.

Like so many non profits, Hope House Ministries has felt the impact of the recent COVID 19 quarantine shutdowns.  

We hope you will consider making a donation that will be used for our many day to day operations that keep our doors open including food for the many residents we serve.

Hi everyone.  My name is Ronan O'Brien and I am taking on the David Goggins 4x4x48 this week beginning March 5th. I am planning to run 4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours!  I am taking on this personal challenge to raise awareness and funding for Hope House Ministries in Port Jefferson, NY.

I first came across David Goggins about 8 months ago and learned about his amazing journey of hardship, dedication, transformation, and inspiration. Like many of us he may be a little rough around the edges but the power of his message is undeniable. I encourage anyone to look up his story and/or read his book — I was blown away. Some of the obstacles he overcame include an abusive childhood, a learning disability, racism, and obesity — he became a decorated Navy Seal Veteran, an extreme endurance athlete, a top motivational speaker for pro-athletes and business moguls, and someone who has raised millions for charities such as the Special Operations Warriors Fund.

He has inspired me to be super-vigilant in maintaining a healthy body, mind, and spirit. Part of that involves doing things that are uncomfortable and stepping outside of our comfort zones to discover what we are truly capable of. That is what this 4x4x48 Challenge represents for me — and that is also what Hope House has meant for me. I am NOT an endurance athlete by any stretch of the imagination, and I have never done anything like this before! It will be a monumental CHALLENGE no doubt, but for a great cause in Hope House Ministries to which I can personally attest to the amazing services they provide.

As Father Frank often touches on his homilies, in a time when there is so much divisiveness, this event is a rare opportunity to come together with people all over the world for some amazing causes!

Over the years it has become more difficult to keep count of homeless youth and young adults. There isn’t enough manpower to accurately count the number of people who are doubling and tripling up in inadequate housing situations, nor the amount of people who at any time are about to be evicted from their homes. Not to mention those who are considered unsheltered, are in transitional housing programs or are living in shelters like Pax Christi. Due to the exponential rise in homelessness as well as the drug and alcohol epidemic our young ones are facing, we are filled to capacity with an extensive waiting list. 

These youth present a tremendous and complex challenge and a great responsibility FOR ALL LONG ISLANDERS! Fortunately, there is Hope House Ministries which provides a loving and compassionate environment for thousands of teenagers, who have gone on to lead productive lives. 

For 35 years, this bi-county, not-for-profit, community-based ministry has dedicated itself to providing comprehensive and competent residential and counseling assistance to thousands of adolescents, individuals and families in crisis. In addition, hundreds of schools throughout the state have benefited from a Wellness Seminar which educates students, teachers, school administrators and parents in understanding peer pressure, drug and alcohol abuse and teenage suicide. 

Hope House Ministries is effective because unlike state and county facilities, which only offer a band-aid approach to these challenges, Hope House Ministries offers a holistic approach. Together, the staff and volunteers have created an empowering sense of family and community that are the change agents, helping young people grow in self-discipline, critical thinking, problem solving skills and personal responsibility. 

We have accomplished these tasks with minimal financial assistance from federal, state or county agencies, saving the taxpayer thousands of dollars each year. We depend on the generosity of private contributions, fundraising events and corporate donations. 

Hope House Ministries celebrates your giftedness and willingness to give others who struggle, a second chance to live again. It is a tapestry of life, compassion and brotherhood, rooted in a heart that speaks of justice and peace for all.
