Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS)

Hi, we’re Scott & Sammi Armacost from Oakland, CA, and we are canoeing down 2,000+ miles of the Mississippi River as a small gesture to celebrate/honor the hundreds of thousands of souls that have died from Covid-19 since January 2020. I, Scott, will play “Taps” every evening at sunset wherever we may be on the river. We also want to provide a means by which anyone may contribute to a great organization - coincidentally also called T.A.P.S or Tradgedy Assistance Program for Survivors - which, since 1994, has dedicated itself to serving families of deceased service members - which now, of course, includes Covid victims. On September 25th, we’re holding a live, 24-hour charity Spinning® event in support of the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) — an amazing organization that supports families who’ve lost a loved one in the military.

SWEAT Gives Back, Again!

We started SWEAT Gives Back four years ago, to pay it forward, do some good in our community, and help those who truly need us.

Our first year, we raised funds for Isaac Coulapides, a brave teen paralyzed in a traffic accident. The next year, we rode for Pawsitive Teams — a wonderful organization young Isaac introduced us to, that helps pair service animals with San Diegans. Unfortunately, COVID-19 derailed last year’s charity ride, but we’re thrilled to announce that it’s back on for this year!

Let’s Honor Our Heroes, Together

Since 1994, TAPS has provided comfort, care and resources to  survivors of military loss. Through a national peer-support network and connection to grief resources, the organization has brought healing and hope to these families, all at no cost to them.

TAPS offers more than 200 programs supporting thousands of participants, offering connections to counseling for grief, trauma, suicide postvention and more - staffed primarily with survivors  who have benefitted from TAPS  services themselves!

Since 21 survivors connect with TAPS every single day, we’ve decided to raise $12,121 for this organization’s important work. Join us, and let’s do some good!

When is the Hero Ride?

Saturday, September 25th at Noon – Sunday, September 26th at noon...24 hours!

What We’re Doing: For 24 hours straight we will ride! That means a Studio SWEAT top-notch trainer will be on a bike, riding and inspiring our community to make a difference.
