We are thrilled to announce the upcoming Midwest University Convention, a unique and transformative event dedicated to fostering academic, professional, and personal growth through the power of dialogue.

Scheduled for October 5th, 2024, at Northwestern University in Chicago, this convention promises to be an unforgettable experience for university students across the Midwest.

Why Dialogue?

Dialogue is the essence of humanity. It is the foundation of respectful communication, allowing us to exchange ideas, share cultural perspectives, and recognize the shared humanity that connects us all. In a world often divided by differences, our convention aims to highlight the importance of dialogue as the true way to bridge gaps and build lasting connections.

Highlights:

Workshops and Speakers: Engage with insightful speakers and participate in interactive workshops focused on the theme of dialogue. Learn how to navigate complex conversations, understand diverse perspectives, and foster mutual respect.

Networking Opportunities: Connect with peers from various universities, build professional networks, and create meaningful friendships that extend beyond the convention.

Fun and Games: Enjoy fun activities designed to strengthen bonds and create a sense of community among attendees.

Chicago City Tour Experience: We want to have our students to experience Chicago to the fullest! We will try to incorporate a city visit where we can enjoy fireworks at Navy Pier, have a boat tour of the river and the lake, and other exhibits!

Why We Need Your Support:

Hosting a convention of this magnitude requires resources, and we need your help to make it a reality. Your generous contributions will go towards:

Venue and Logistics: Ensuring a comfortable and accessible environment for all attendees.

Speakers and Workshop Leaders: Bringing in experienced professionals to lead impactful sessions.

DEVASTATING EARTHQUAKE OF 7.8 MAGNITUDE JOLTS SOUTHERN TURKEY KILLING THOUSANDS

The tragic earthquake, which was the most powerful of the seven quakes with magnitude 7.0 or greater that have struck Turkey in the past 25 years, has killed over 35,415 people and injured 105,505 in Southern Turkey. The numbers are rising by the hour and victims need the most basic necessities. There are still thousands of people trapped in the rubble, waiting to be saved. Please donate generously as we try to do our part in helping the families and friends of our community through local efforts in the region.

WHAT WE DO ?

The Midwest University Convention (MUC) is a Turkish-American non-profit organization based in Chicago. It’s run by a committee of young leaders dedicated to serving the academic youth.

As MUC, our mission is to host an annual convention that delivers a wide range of personal and professional networking and development opportunities for college students around the Midwest.

Each year, we bring several notable industry professionals to share their expertise in a variety of different fields: technology, education and politics, etc. Our workshop sessions yield deep and thought-provoking discussions among the attendees who like to tackle the issues that are faced by the youth today.

Throughout the conference, the attendees get the opportunity to connect with their peers as well as the professionals who are at the top of their fields, while also being entertained by activities like live music, stand-up and ice-breakers.

Last year, we welcomed more than 130 students from different states, schools and majors who have broadened their personal and professional connections while having a great time.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

Last year’s convention was a success. This year, we are organizing it again. This convention is sponsored by local business owners and generous sponsors. While we are charging registration fees from attendees, it’s not going to be enough to cover the hotel/venue costs as well as our funding for prizes, and guests/musicians, etc.

In order to cover costs, we need your help and appreciate the support.

• Job/Internship interviews

• Activism and leadership

• How are young people being integrated in our society

- One workshop session

- Jazz band (not 100% confirmed)

- Prizes and games!

The Midwest University Convention team

Hello everyone,

 

We are a group of high school seniors (15 girls) from Chicago&Ohio hoping to visit touristic attractions Orlando, Florida over winter break to have a one-week youth camp program. As we are nearing the end of college application season and are all planning to attend four year higher educational institutions, it is likely that this youth camp program will be our last opportunity to spend our days focused on spiritual enrichment and social activities with our friend group before the start of the next busy phase in our lives. In this youth camp program we are planning to read books of religious concentration, do networking activities, hold fruitful discussions with our mentors, visit touristic attractions that Orlando has to offer, and other personal development activities. We strongly believe that this youth camp program will not only allow us to take a break after the college application marathon we have been in for at least the past four years, but it will also help us get prepared for college life both mentally and physically. All that said, unfortunately we do not possess the monetary strength to afford this youth camp program that includes plane tickets, house rent, rental car, gas, food, and touristic attractions. Without the adequate budget, we will not be able to arrange this youth camp program. For that reason, we are humbly asking for any donations you can make to our program that will catapult us to a place of higher understanding and exploration.
