FUND THE MOMENT THAT CHANGES A YOUNG PERSON’S TRAJECTORY.
Well Beyond Academics is building a healthier generation one community at a time. Since 2016, WBA continues to provide comprehensive sexuality programming, substance use education, suicide prevention, and other wellness programs through mental health informed curriculums. After six years of service, we are excited to FINALLY invite our larger community to join us in our mission of making our services as accessible as possible, through our year-end fundraiser!
Since our inception, the thousands of youth and families and nearly one dozen schools we have served, report that our classes and workshops have broken barriers for youth, opening doors to traditionally awkward and stigmatizing conversations. Our students and their trusted adults, report feeling appreciative of the intentionally fun atmosphere our educators bring to the classroom. At Well Beyond Academics, we know that laughter and humor are crucial to creating a safe learning environment.
Well Beyond Academics was founded by two mental health clinicians, mothers, and life-long youth advocates, Jenene Slatt and Jennifer Krasner.
When Slatt's eldest daughter was beginning elementary school, Slatt noticed that there was no truly comprehensive sexuality education curriculum to be found. After extensive search to no avail, Slatt and Krasner decided to take matters into their own hands. Informed by more than 20 years of experience serving youth and their families in clinical and school-based settings, Slatt and Krasner build Well Beyond Academics. Now, 7 years later, their children-- and yours-- have access to world-class sexuality education.
When we say comprehensive, we mean:
We provide mental-health informed education
As mental health clinicians specializing in child and adolescent wellness, we understand the mental health crisis facing today’s youth.
Knowing that youth who feel rejected or who have a history of untreated mental illness are more likely to engage in risky behaviors (including suicide, self-harm, substance abuse, unsafe sex), we hold mental health empowerment as the centerpiece of our various outreach services.
A foundation of trust
We facilitate opportunities for children to connect with trusted adults in their lives. Our one-of-a-kind approach bridges the gap between the classroom and the community, reinforcing that adult involvement in adolescence does not have to be uncomfortable.
Students know they belong
Students of all genders, sexual orientations, cultural backgrounds, and family make-ups know that they belong in our classrooms. We ensure that ALL students receive information that will help them make healthy choices while honoring their authenticity.
We commit to accessibility
Our decision to become a public charity is rooted in our belief that our services need to be accessible to our most systemically vulnerable populations. Supporting our program allows us to bring these life-lines to school communities who need it most.
