Power Chair for Park Advocate, Chris Collier
Since 2013, Chris Collier, a neighborhood leader, has volunteered his time to beautify Gaisman Park. He leads the organization Friends of Gaisman Park and has consistently advocated for park improvements and proper maintenance. Chris has also lead several community clean ups, beautification projects, and raised much needed financial support for the park as well as for other community organizations. The Heights CDC has partnered with Chris in his efforts to improve Gaisman Park and we believe that Chris is one of the true unsung heroes in our city. Despite using a wheelchair due to his diagnosis of muscular dystrophy, he has remained dedicated to picking up trash at the park, leading projects, and encouraging others at the park and community center to invest in their neighborhood.
Chris has been using an electric wheelchair that was not built for rugged use. His chair has gotten stuck several times while he has been cleaning up the park. The chair has had countless repairs and has finally failed him completely.
Will you join the Heights CDC to raise money to provide Chris with an off-road power chair that will allow Chris to be mobile again as soon as possible and allow him to serve the community and park he loves? We are working with Chris and Numotion , to ensure that Chris gets exactly the chair he needs. You can contact the Heights CDC if you have any questions about this effort: (901)-730-6902. Thank you for helping our neighbor!
