Cookies4Cures is in the news !!!

This is Ollie. He is the reason we launched Cookies4PANS. We bake cookies to fund research that may lead to a cure for PANS (pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome).

Cookies4Cures is an organization run by kids for kids. We fund research into rare childhood diseases one cookie at a time. Right now, we are funding research into PANS through our Cookies4PANS fundraiser. Here's our story.

Hi, I'm Dana and I'm 9 years old. My friends and I bake cookies to find cures for kids who are sick. We focus on funding research for rare diseases.

Two years ago, we raised over $55,000  for a disease called Batten to help my friend, Mila . Last year, we raised $30,000  to help the Stanford PANS Clinic hire a post doc researcher. Her name is Dr. Rahman.

This year, we are raising $15,000 to fund Dr. Rahman's the research at the Stanford PANS Clinic. They told me that the #1 thing they need is money to fund science. So that's how we are going to help.

The reason we are so passionate about PANS is because of my friend, Ollie. Ollie got PANS when he was in kindergarten.

^ This is Ollie. He is super duper brave.

PANS stands for Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome. Whew! What that means for Ollie is that he got a fever for a couple days, and it led to tons of really bad problems with his brain. First he had a lot of anxiety and couldn't sleep. Then he got muscle problems. Then it got so bad that he lost the ability to talk, do schoolwork, and even play the drums. Ollie was really good at the drums!

Ollie is a little better now and he can remember some of his words. But that's not enough. I miss my friend the way he used to be. And right now, no one knows how to cure him.

For Ollie to really get better, scientists need to do lots and lots of research and find better treatments for PANS. The Stanford PANS Clinic is one of the best research centers in the world for PANS, and we are helping them do as much research as possible.

We raise money by baking cookies, lots and lots of cookies. So far, we have baked and sold over 10,000 cookies.
^ These are some of the cookies we've baked.

Sometimes, we sell cookies at bake sales.

Sometimes, we sell cookies out of my old red wagon.

And sometimes, we mail cookies all over the country!

We work really hard because we want to help the scientists who are helping sick kids like Ollie get better. Can you help us?

Any size donation will help. Thank you and please help us spread the word.

All funds raised will go directly to the Stanford PANS Clinic.
Thank you!!!

Here are a few more pictures:

^ I was recently honored at the Global Genes convention for the work Cookies4Cures does to raise money for rare pediatric diseases.

^ I got to deliver cookies to Lenny Kravitz with my friend, Ben. It was so cool!

^ This is my brother, Carson. He helps with all the baking but he usually hides under the table during bake sales.

^ These are some of the cookies we bake.  We also make sugar cookies, brownies, and rice crispies. My favorite are the M&M cookies, but they are all delicious!
