(Thanks Mom for all your help with getting this page up and running!)
I've always loved dogs and have been showing them as long as I can remember. I started showing in fun matches in the States and in Canada in the Pee Wee classes at age of 4 and have been showing ever since. Since starting in AKC Juniors at the age of 9 it has been my dream and my goal to be able to compete at Westminster Kennel Club in New York. My first five years in Juniors I had the pleasure to compete with a beautiful Golden Retriever, Rush Hill's That's The Scoop, RN, affectionately known as Dawson. Sadly last year, I lost Dawson suddenly to Cancer. He was only 7 years old. While I had decided it was time to retire him from the rigors of Juniors a couple months prior, I did not ever think I would lose him so soon. I almost gave up on Juniors but I knew Dawson wouldn't want me to give up on my dream so I needed to get a new juniors dog and start pursuing my dream once again. Late last year, I had the fortunate luck to be asked to co-own and show a beautiful English Springer Spaniel named Journey's Let The Games Begin. My journey with Domino started off with a bang. We completed his Canadian Championship with a Group 2 and a Group 1! January of this year in our second time together in the AKC Juniors ring, I Won my first AKC All Breed Best Junior! Together we repeated the win the following weekend at the Rose City Cluster. Fast forward to September of this year, Domino and I were awarded Best Junior for our 7th qualifying win. I have gotten 4 Best Juniors with Domino and the remaining 3 with Gin, my Weimaraner, Takai, my Golden and Paris, my Labrador. I am so grateful to their wonderful owners for sharing them with me so my dream and goal of qualifying for the Garden could come true! With these wonderful dogs, and the fabulous people that come with them, I have achieved the goal of qualifying. But that comes with the reality of funding the trip. Thru generous donations from some wonderful people, my Mom and I already have our flights booked and paid for. Domino has a spot reserved on our flights, but the cost is 389.00 each way!! Not to mention what His luggage will cost me to ship. The airline charges 25.00 for the first checked bag and 35.00 for each additional bag...per person!! And then the additional charge for his crate that we'll need for him at the at the apartment. UPDATE...My mom and I are now looking in to getting a hotel room closer to the venue due to prior lodging changes.
I'm not one to ask for help and know that times are tight for a lot of people, but it is my hope that you would be willing to help Domino and I be able to travel to New York and compete at the Garden and represent the Pacific Northwest!
