Ginny Callander's Memorial Bench
Donativo protegido
In September 2013 MathWorks lost a dear colleague and, for many, a great friend. Ginny Callander joined MathWorks in 2001 and was employed for more than 12 years as an event planner. Ginny had a strong work ethic, planned and executed corporate events flawlessly, and was widely recognized as an exemplary marketing professional who brought a positive perspective to all those who worked with her. She also loved to spend time with her family and in particular, her beloved granddaughter, Sarah McNemar.
In honor of Ginny, the marketing department would like to sponsor a memorial bench at Southwick's Zoo, a privately funded and operated zoological park in Mendon, MA. Southwick's Zoo was a special place for Ginny. She spent many Mother's days and weekends there each year with her daughter Karen and granddaughter, Sarah. It became known affectionately as "Grandma's Zoo".
The engraved granite bench will be placed in the popular Deer Forest section of the zoo. Deer Forest is a 35 acre walk-through woodland forest that is home to the Eurasian Fallow Deer. Families can directly interact with the deer as they roam their vast habitat. The forest features a winding walkway through a beautiful native ecosystem, and Ginny's bench will become part of that landscape.
We are working on the details of this memorial with Earth Limited, a non-profit educational organization based at Southwick's Zoo that exists to educate people about environmental issues such as animal ecology, endangered species, and threatened habitats.
Ginny was taken too soon from all of us, but she will forever be in our hearts. Please help us honor Ginny and keep her memory alive by making a donation. Any amount is appreciated. Please note, since part of the funds will go to purchasing the bench from a monument company, we cannot ensure that the donation is tax deductible.
