A 45km walk from my current job to the next
Beschermde donatie
As I finish one era of my working career and move into a new era I thought I would mark the move by fundraising for the charity I currently work for; Bendrigg Trust and the charity I will start working for in October as their operations manager; Vision of Adventure. I have been at the Bendrigg Trust for 14 years and it’s a wonderful charity making the outdoors accessible for all. Working for Bendrigg has consolidated my mindset that where there’s a will, there’s always a way and I will take this outlook with me wherever I go. Vision of adventure take visually impaired adults on outdoors adventurous activities including wild swimming, rock climbing and paddling.
On my last day of work at Bendrigg Trust I plan to walk out the door and commute to my new office (our office in our back garden!) by foot. The route is roughly 45km and 1000m of ascent. As I finish work at 5pm and I’ll have just worked a 7 day stretch with some wonderful individuals, who come to Bendrigg every year to enjoy the adventurous activities that can easily be taken for granted, I plan to give myself 24 hours to complete this challenge so I can enjoy the route, not panic too much about fitness and camp out at a friends house en-route! All being well I will run a stretch of it and be ahead of time whilst exploring along the way at what I have driven past over the last 14 years! I’ve always dreamed of being able to bike or walk to work so this will be the day!!
