Barran Barber Shop Support

Jakar and his cousin Masoud both moved to Canada to escape violence in Northern Syria. Their journeys to Canada were especially difficult as both men are Kurds from Northern Syria and had to travel through Iraq and Turkey, facing extreme discrimination. Both families arrived in Canada in 2016/17 and managed to start a successful business together: Barran Barber Shop on Bayers Road in Halifax. Early Sunday morning their business was set on fire. This act of arson has left them again without a source of livelihood to support their young families. Their insurance will only cover the damages from the fire, not lost wages for the duration of the repairs leaving both families at risk.
Masoud and Jakar started this business with only two chairs and have expanded their business with money borrowed from family. Working hard for the last 18 months they have been able to repay this investment and have built a profitable business that they have dreams of growing even further. In order to reach these goals their families will need your help to support their daily living expenses as the rebuilding process begins. Anticipated monthly expenses for 2 families includes rent, food, insurance, utilities, etc. Both families have young children and only one source of income which is on hold until the shop can be rebuilt.
Any assistance is appreciated and will help get these two families back on their feet after this unexpected violence.
This campaign is organized and monitored by family friends including volunteers who sponsored the family to come to Canada.
All funds raised will be divided equally between the 2 families.
