Beats of Hope for Steven Tang

Dear Friends, Family, and Caring Strangers,

I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. Today, I come to you with a heavy heart and a request that could significantly change the life of my dear brother, Steven Tang, who has recently endured a life-altering event – a stroke. Steve is a lifelong dj/music producer dazzling us with his dedication to his craft, talent and melodic, primal soundscapes on the dancefloor and off. It has been said that his music sounds hopeful.

Windy City EP, his first release on his record label, Emphasis Recordings, pays homage and is named after his hometown of Chicago still garners praise to this day from ardent fans.

Steven has also recorded several releases under his Obsolete Music Technology moniker where in 2010 released the jaw-dropping “Relapse EP” on Machining Dreams label.

2013 saw Steven Tang release his well-received first full length album, “Disconnect To Connect”, exploring another very influential music style on him, Detroit Techno, through a Hamburg, Germany record label, Smallville Records.

In 2023, Steven was looking forward to dropping his next digital release on Emphasis Recordings entitled, “Loops From The Habitus” as Obsolete Music Technology. However, in the early hours of July 12, 2023 Steven suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and a smaller ischemic stroke to the middle cerebral artery (MCA) leaving him bedridden, barely able to speak, affecting the movement of the right arm and leg (Steven’s right-handed), and requires sub-acute and eventually therapy. His stroke was ultimately caused by abnormally high blood pressure.

Currently, his condition is stabilized and is resting comfortably and slowly but surely recovering.

As each day passes, Steven surprises me with hints of improvements in him. I know my brother to be a fighter working extremely hard right now to bounce back but faces an uphill battle toward recovery. This unexpected and traumatic event has taken a toll on both his physical and mental well-being. He is facing numerous medical challenges, including extensive therapy sessions, rehabilitation, and ongoing medical expenses.

The road to recovery will be long and arduous, but we firmly believe that with love, encouragement, and financial assistance, Steve can regain control of his life and regain independence. This is where we kindly request your help.
