SUPPORT BLACK QUEER TOWN HALL BECAUSE BLACK QUEER PEOPLE GAVE US PRIDE
This Pride season, advocates, and entertainers Peppermint and Bob the Drag Queen are debuting a star-studded streaming event like no other. Introducing the first annual Black Queer Town Hall, in partnership with GLAAD and NYC Pride, on your screens June 19-21, 2020.
THIS IS BLACK QUEER EXCELLENCE
This three-day series of performances, appearances, and roundtable discussions are slated to include Laverne Cox, Mj Rodriguez, Angelica Ross, Monet X Change, Isis King, Todrick Hall, Shea Diamond, Tiq Milan, Alex Newell, Basit, and more, with Bob the Drag Queen and Peppermint hosting and producing the event.
THIS IS GETTING BLACK QUEER PERFORMERS AND CAUSES PAID
It’s important that Black, queer people asked to speak, perform, or offer their time are paid. Always and without a doubt. That’s why your funds are not a donation. They are payment for Black, queer excellence. You can send those dollar bills here. You can even contribute directly during the live stream to each of the performers on their scheduled slot as well as to organizations run by and serving Black LGBTQ people.
THIS IS WHEN AND WHERE TO WATCH
The event will be streamed on the YouTube and Facebook pages of GLAAD, the global LGBTQ media advocacy organization, from 6:30-8pm ET on Friday, June 19, Saturday, June 20, Sunday, June 21, 2020.
THIS IS HOW IT ALL STARTED
This event mindfully replaces the previously announced Pride 2020 Drag Fest originally organized by Marti Gould Cummings in order to center on Black queer voices and offer a moment for healing, rejoicing, mourning, and love. A diverse collection of LGBTQ voices will celebrate Black LGBTQ people, and discuss pathways to dismantle racism, fight white supremacy, and pay homage to the queer people of color who started the revolution at Stonewall.
