For the LOVE of Bridget Rose Fund

Donation protected
This page is dedicated to Bridget Rose and to her family Christy Zavitske McNeely & David Zavitske, Big Sister Maddy 15, Big Sister Stella 7, and Little Brother Miller 2 who live in Dunrobin (Ottawa), Ontario, Canada, and friends who love her and are rooting for her along this journey.

For those who do not know, Bridget (age 6) was taken to CHEO (The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario) on Monday, June 17th. She was diagnosed with Wilms' Tumor... kidney cancer. Wilms' tumor or nephroblastoma is cancer of the kidneys that typically occurs in children, rarely in adults.

Bridget had a scan on June 18th and unfortunately, the cancer has spread to Bridget's lung and lymph nodes. She is considered stage 4. Bridget goes in for surgery at 9:30 am on June 20th, please keep this precious baby girl in your prayers.

Continued love and support for the Zavitske's through this difficult journey that no parent ever wants to face is most appreciated. They will need all of our love and support to help see them through this time and be able to be there for Bridget.

We will continue to update Bridgets journey as well as continue to fundraise and support as time goes on. Everyone knows when a family member gets sick, there are always extra "day-to-day" costs that will start to add up.

This amazing family of 6 needs all of the love and support that you can imagine. Let's help them along this journey.

Christy Zavitske McNeely - March 3, 2013

Ding ding ding - round 2 starts next week and it's gonna be a tougher fight!

The pathology is back and it is Wilms again. The fact that it grew soooo quickly (she had an MRI in January) and where it grew means it is going to take a lot more to get rid of it.

Tomorrow she goes in for a 3 hour kidney function test and then a hearing test. One of the new chemo drugs can affect her hearing. Chemo will start Monday. This will be a much more intensive chemo then before. Every 3 weeks she will be admitted into cheo for 3-4 days and will receive her chemo in patient. I am not sure how many weeks it will be.

We will also be heading to sick kids in Toronto in approximately 3 weeks where they will harvest her stem cells. There is a good chance she will need a bone marrow transplant.

The first focus is to shrink the Tumor so the catheter can be removed and she can urinate on her own. I am unsure at what point they will operate to remove the Tumor.

So that is what I know right now. I'm taking it all in and know she is in great hands with the best out there! Bridget doesn't seem too worried, but she is mad she has to have more chemo!

Thanks again to everyone who continues to support Bridget and pass on positive energy and prayers. Xoxo

Gratitude, love, and blessing to you all.
