Childhood Rescue Project is an ongoing project to help and enable children in risk situations to retain or regain their childhood, which is increasingly endangered by war, natural disasters, migration, child labor, violence, early marriage and even excessive access to technology.
By playing, children will maintain the connection between their inner selves and the outside world in a harmonious way, thus having a fair chance to grow as a whole, and mentally, emotionally as well as physically healthy human being.
Currently there are thousands of migrant children from Syria, Afghanistan and Irak stranded in tents and camps in northern Greece near the Macedonian border; most of them had to escape war and walk with and at times without their families for thousands of miles without proper clothing, food, security and education.
Childhood Rescue Project is going to Idomeni and Polykastro, Greece on April 22nd for one week, and we ask for your help to fund the materials needed to build toys, set up a tent to hold a playgroup and leave a structure for our work to be continued by local volunteers.
Now that many european countries have started to close their borders the urgency is even greater to step in and help those children, who are undergoing severe stress and trauma from their experiences with war and migration. Our priority for this trip is to interact with those children and evaluate and set up structures for a longer term basis, which, hopefully, with a growing team of volunteers will help the ones who need it most.
