Compassion Uprising for Navajo Nation

As coronavirus has swept through the Navajo Nation, "it has underscored many of the social and economic inequalities that continue to affect the tribe - all contributing to one another, and all making the outbreak worse."

We've partnered with grass roots efforts to bring masks, food, water, and cleaners to folks in need in three states. Roberta Begaye, a first responder in Albuquerque, uses all of her days off to take supplies to those living in extreme poverty, way off the grid. Most have no electricity, and no running water. 

I asked Roberta what the most needed items are. She said; "Canned goods. Like spam, canned luncheon meat, sardines, tuna, chicken, the lil weenies. Those are the most expensive for me to buy (and they're being rationed here). Those are also what the elderly prefer-- and most don't have refrigeration."

We leave for New Mexico Friday, June 19th. We want to fill our car with bulk donations. $2,000 in 24 hours? YES! I think we can do it.
