Dean Blundell VS Canada Proud’s “SLAPP” Law Suit

I’ve dedicated my career to uncovering the truth and holding those in power accountable. Today, I’m facing a legal battle that threatens not just my livelihood, life and the very principles of free speech and honest journalism, in Canada. For all Canadians.

The Lawsuit

Canada Proud, a right-wing/Third party content creation/lobby group/organization known for spreading political “content” and misinformation for Conservative parties and interests, has sued me and Crier Media for $200,000 in “damages” and “monetary losses”. This lawsuit came after we questioned their influence on Canadian politics. It’s a classic example of a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP) - a legal action designed to silence critics and stifle public debate.

Canada Proud has deep pockets, corporate donors, and works exclusively for Conservative Political Parties and Intreats and threaten people who question their contracts, funding, and practices regularly.

The Impact

This legal battle has dragged on, pushing Crier Media and myself to the brink of bankruptcy. It’s one of the reasons we announced we would be shutting down publishing at Crier Media.

The financial strain is overwhelming, and I stand to lose everything I’ve worked for. But this fight is about more than just me - it’s also about protecting the right of all Canadians to question, investigate, and speak out against powerful interests.
