Donnington War Memorial

Hi, my name is Jay Gough. Also known locally in Telford and Wrekin as Cllr Jay Gough, and Telford Batman.

I have been personally looking after Donnington War Memorial for the last 6 years as it was forgotten about and in poor condition. Along with a wonderful team of friends and volunteers we have made a huge impact on it, from regular groundwork and mowing, jet washing all of the walls to their original state, and repainting and tending the monument, gates and benches.

I am aiming to raise a minimum of £5000 so that the brick walls surrounding the area can be repointed, the 4 entrance footpath in the shape of the St George's Cross can be replaced, and the gates can be sandblasted and restored to former glory after having been painted over too many times which have made dedication plaques unreadable.

The Donnington War Memorial means so much to our community, and it has had no proper funding put into it, or allocated for projects in decades.

I want to change this and keep my work going for years to come with even more volunteers who know the meaning of real community.
