Project Helping Hands
As many of you know, my mom has been traveling with the mission group Project Helping Hands, to Uganda on a medical mission trip every February for the past few years. This coming February, my mom (aka The Uganda Team Leader) has offered to let me join her to help the mission through educational purposes. As a non-medical person, I will supporting the medical team in a variety of ways: fitting patients for reading glasses and sunglasses, teaching basic healthcare information - especially for the Project Underpants classes, helping with supplies and equipment, and interacting/entertaining children and patients, who have traveled thousands of miles and waited hours, while they wait to finally be seen by a doctor.
In creating this GoFundMe, I am looking for money to pay my airfare to and from Uganda (as well as admin costs and fees to run the clinic) to spend 2 weeks working alongside the other PHH volunteers providing basic medical care, preventative care and education for these wonderful people. My mom has agreed to pay half of my cost (totaling $3500) if I am able to raise the other half of the cost. No amount of money is too small and every little bit counts towards helping me help others. The application to go is due October 15th.
A little bit about the Project Helping Hands organization:
Only 4% of the Project Helping Hands revenue goes to administrative costs.
In 2013 there were:
16 teams
Visited 7 countries
228 PHH volunteers
Thank you so much for your time and consideration in helping me reach out and help others!
