Educational And Medical Needs for Estefania and Bella

Following years of persecution from their communities, a group of Indigenous trans women from the Embera Chamí and Embera Katío peoples in Colombia have been working collectively to establish a new Indigenous trans community. They have found this new beginning in Santuario, Colombia, located in the heart of the country’s coffee region. Displaced from their respective communities because of their sexual orientation and gender identity, often times under the threat of violence, they wove their communities together under the name Las Mariposas del Café and have since been inventing new forms of family, community organization, and administration.

Estefania and Bella are members of Las Mariposas del Café, they are resilient and inspiring girls working towards a brighter future, and we invite you to join us in supporting them on their journeys.

Estefania recently graduated from high school and dreams of continuing her university studies in Bogotá. However, the financial burden of tuition, transport, and daily necessities poses a challenge. With your support, she can focus on her education without the stress of financial insecurity. We aim to raise funds to cover one year of tuition, transportation, and living expenses so she can pursue her academic aspirations.

Bella requires medical treatment once a month, which necessitates travel from Santuario to Pereira. These trips are essential for her well-being, but the costs of transport and food add up quickly.
